... "'ATF has refused to adequately protect or defend Dobyns and Family from the threats coming from the very criminals and alleged syndicates that ATF encouraged Dobyns to investigate,' the complaint continues, and then raises chilling allegations."

"'In a demonstration of an extreme example of a United States government agency abandoning an employee, Dobyns’s supervisors at ATF have subjected and are subjecting Dobyns to malicious reprisals including, but not limited to, ATF’s refusal to investigate the arson of Dobyns’s home and naming Dobyns as a suspect in the arson of Dobyns family home and in the attempted murder of Plaintiff’s family with no evidence or investigative activity to support the charge.'" ...

"I respect my friends in the gun culture, but gun-control politicians sure don’t. These politicians put the police on a pedestal when it suits them."

"These politicians write gun laws that often exempt the police or demand that civilians match the standards set for police."

"I don’t know what is so special about law enforcement officers that civilian gun owners should imitate them. A badge doesn’t suddenly make people more responsible or better shots. I think the gun grabbing politicians have it backwards. Civilians with a concealed carry license are more responsible and law abiding than cops based on the data! These civilians obey laws in general, and firearms laws in particular, better than the police." ...

"KVI’s John Carlson – returning from a short break Wednesday morning – wasted no time zeroing in on an incident at an Edmonds elementary school that is making national headlines via The Drudge Report, and in the process underscoring once again the down side of 'zero tolerance' policies."

"The story was first reported by KOMO, Seattle’s ABC affiliate, a few days ago and has now reached across the country. Long story short, several sixth grade boys brought nerf guns to Chase Lake Elementary School, allegedly with permission from their teacher for a 'class probability project' that involved the effects of shooting the guns 100 times." ...

"USA Today made an astounding discovery: 'New Jersey gun laws don’t curb violence in Camden.' Although the Brady Campaign considers NJ to be the state with the second-strongest gun laws in the US, Camden’s murder rate was about 12 times the overall U.S. rate in 2011. There were 75 homicides in the city last year. Anderson Baker, a convicted felon and former gang member stated, 'Gun laws to people in Camden are like saying you’ll get a ticket if you jaywalk…it means nothing. Most politicians don’t get that.' So what’s NJ’s response? Pass more gun laws, of course. It all makes perfect sense. Or not. And from Connecticut . . ." ...

"Thanks to the high prices and crappy availability of ammo these days, I’ve been hand loading most of the .38/.357 ammo I shoot. I started out using the LEE handloading kit. Even though I generally like the press, one thing I’ve had a problem with is all the dang hammering involved. Since I never could get the knack of hammering quietly, my wife and kids hated to see me break out my reloading stuff. I can’t really blame them since I usually felt the need to put some ear plugs in myself. Also, all that banging 'allegedly' played a part in the demise of our coffee table but that has yet to be proven . . ." ...

"A retired Marysville police officer and Vietnam combat veteran who also is a licensed federal firearms dealer will leave this Saturday from Astoria, Ore., on a cross-country “Ride Across America” to support wounded veterans."

"Kit Wennersten is a dyed-in-the-wool gun enthusiast who enjoys hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping, reloading and collecting and selling firearms, but his devotion to disabled veterans is front and center for the next few months. He will be one of nine starters on this jaunt, which he will be doing on an ICE Adventure Tadpole tricycle. The group will follow the Adventure Cycling Association’s TransAmerica route for 2,450 miles." ...

"Dick Heller is angry."

"The so-called hero of the gun rights community on Wednesday accused members of the media of purposefully confusing the public about guns and gun ownership in the months since the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Heller was the center of a landmark Supreme Court decision in 2008 that held the Second Amendment protected civilians, and not just law enforcement, in owning guns. His prescription for reporters on the gun beat Wednesday: learn how to use a firearm." ...

"Steve Rose in his June 2 column, “The NRA stokes real fears about government,” exposed the truth about the National Rifle Association and gun control. It’s not about the Second Amendment, but the 56 percent of white men opposing stricter gun laws and their fear of government."

"Fear historically slows change. When black slaves struggled for freedom, white male voters used fear to maintain the status quo. When women struggled to get the vote, white men propagated fear to keep women in their place." ...

"Your May 30 editorial, 'Gun makers show no remorse over deaths,' was a waste of paper. Your newspaper continually tries to sway its readers with false truths."

"I shoot competitively, and you have to have large-capacity magazines for both handguns and rifles to compete. The National Rifle Association is correct in saying the cause is mental illness, not the gun or the legal gun owners." ...

"Forget all about actual guns, cap guns, guns made from sticks, or even a drawing for a gun. Now, it appears that children can't even say the word 'gun' or else risk getting in trouble not only with the school system but also with local law enforcement. That's exactly what happened to an 11-year-old boy who was telling a story and used the word 'gun' in it." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of men and women. — Thomas Paine, The Crisis, Intro. (Dec. 1776).
