"British Columbia has joined five other Canadian provinces that will not prosecute firearm owners for failing to register their guns as required under the contentious Firearms Act."

"Attorney General Geoff Plant said yesterday the firearms registry is an 'unmitigated disaster' and the province has made its views clear to the federal government. 'There are some offences in the Criminal Code that relate to failure to register. We will examine those on a case-by-case basis,' Plant said."

"A proposal to study the creation of a ballistics-fingerprinting database for new handguns died in the final hours of Connecticut's 2003 legislative session Wednesday."

"The Senate approved the measure last week, but the House of Representatives never called the bill for a vote before lawmakers adjourned at midnight. Gun-control advocates argued that a database could help police solve crimes by making it easier to trace guns to their original buyers, but gun rights groups and some forensics experts have questioned whether the technology works."

"The state's Catholic bishops voted on Wednesday to join the lawsuit by Edina Community Lutheran Church. The suit claims that it's unconstitutional for the state to require churches that want to ban guns to post signs and tell parishioners."

"Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher is crediting that city's tougher stance on criminals who use guns in the commission of their crimes for slowing what was a record pace of homicides this year."

"The program, known as Project Safe Neighborhoods, was created nearly two years ago in response to the city's most violent summer in decades."

"Streicher says the homicide numbers, while only a modest improvement over last year, are 'a tangible result' of the gun program."

"While we agree that these 'get tough on criminals' programs work (more to follow), it's hard to credit a program that's been in effect for two years, for a sudden, two-week decrease in homicides. Could there be a much-more likely, self-defense-related reason for the reprieve?"

"Minnesota counties and businesses are scrambling to learn their rights and modify policies following the enactment last week of the law that lets most residents get permits to carry concealed handguns."

"Ramsey County is one of several planning to ban guns on its property. County Board Chair Jim McDonough said the ordinance would make it a misdemeanor to carry a gun into county buildings, parks, beaches, ice arenas and libraries. McDonough said the county must protect the safety of its employees."

" 'I'm not anti-gun and I'm not anti-conceal and carry. I just don't agree that doing public business in a public building is a situation where their rights to carry a gun would outweigh the work of those people in those buildings,' McDonough said."

Even though the majority does not seem to rule anymore, we still must never cease to voice our opinions and let our leaders know that we are watching (at least a few of us are). Secret gatherings such as the annual Bilderberger meetings and summits with leaders of communist countries are not just social get-togethers. Neither are they discussing how peace and Democracy can be obtained with justice for all. Strategic planning for global-control is the order of the day."
