In 1936, Walther Arms collaborated with Gustav Genschow and Company (GECO) to produce the 9x18 Ultra on behalf of the Luftwaffe, the illegally formed aerial branch of the German military. By the time World War II broke out, the Luftwaffe had become the most powerful military force in Europe.
In light of the new military’s impending needs, the Germans had requested a round to replace the less powerful .380 ACP. The 9x18 Ultra was born, keeping the same rim dimensions and 100 grain weight. World War II interrupted the progress of the invention, and the cartridge was not officially adopted until Walther introduced the Walther PP Super (PP Super) in 1972.

I spend a fair amount of time writing about lightweight rifles these days. While one could reasonably assume this is due to writer bias, the reality is that the trend toward ever-lighter and sleeker long-gun designs continues apace. Consumer demand and the steady evolution of material science seem to be the main drivers for this. While this is not new information, I have noticed an interesting twist on the trend: Female shooters are beginning to lead the way in the light-carbine race. |

The Federal Subsistence Board, or FSB, will soon consider an ill-advised request to close Northwest Alaska to non-federally qualified moose and caribou hunters. This means Alaskans from outside the region could be locked out of vast swaths of hunting territory. As the governor recently said, even his wife Rose would be unable to hunt the land she grew up on. |

Dr. Aruna Khilanani spewed the race-hating virtual remarks at the Ivy League institution’s Child Study Center on April 6
"It was also a public service," she said. "I had fantasies of unloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way, burying their body and wiping my bloody hands as I walked away relatively guiltless with a bounce in my step. Like I did the world a f–king favor."
Submitter's note: Psychiatrists, as a whole, are crazier then the people they treat. Also, this is why many liberals are against gun rights. They project their own feelings onto gun owners. |

I introduced my two sons-in-law to the great sport of hunting in 2019, when I took both of them on their first-ever hunt during the opening week of spring turkey season on a river-bottom farm in my native Kansas. These young men, in their mid- and late-30s, joined the NRA at my encouragement and both have obtained their concealed-carry permits (also at my urging). They have since armed themselves with fine shotguns, rifles and handguns. |

The newly redesigned Tactical Light Forend is an incredibly simple way to upgrade most popular Remington and Mossberg pump-action shotguns for home-defense use, thanks to its textured operating surface and built-in 300-lumen tactical flashlight. |

As summer approaches, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is encouraging hunters to consider wild hog hunting in the state. In a press release, FWC said, “Wild hog hunting is a good way to sharpen your hunting skills, test new equipment and scout a WMA you might later want to hunt. It’s also a chance to restock your freezer with delicious wild game meat for all those summer cookouts.”
