The 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office has dismissed all charges initially filed against a Beaufort woman accused in the murder of her roommate in August of last year. State prosecutors said they were unable to disprove she was acting in self-defense. Renita Talia Boardman, 34, was cleared of murder and a felony firearms offense on April 24. She had been in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center since her arrest in late October 2023. Circuit Court Judge Robert J. Bonds denied her attorney’s motion to set bond in mid-December, ruling that Boardman was a danger to the community. |

A violent confrontation in a normally quiet Stanton neighborhood led to a rideshare driver shooting a nude assailant in self-defense on Sunday night, according to witnesses and law enforcement.
The incident unfolded shortly before 8 p.m. in the 7000 block of Custer Way. Witnesses reported seeing a man, later identified as the suspect, violently assaulting a woman. One neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, described the horrifying scene, stating he saw the man “beating on a woman” through his window. The suspect then turned his aggression towards a rideshare driver’s vehicle, punching the car while completely nude. |

Culpeper County 2A is a product of elected representatives violating our trust, breaking their oaths of office, and attacking our constitutionally guaranteed Right to Keep & Bear Arms. We got tired of the abuse and got politically active.
Consequently, we view all political candidates with skepticism. We’re used to glowing resumes, political posturing, and empty promises. Contrary to what our detractors say, we’re not radicals, and we’re not ignorant. We’re educated on the issues and uncompromising in demanding that our elected representatives fulfill their oaths to the constitution. It’s a rare thing to earn our trust, but a few have. Cameron Hamilton is one of them. |

I want to call attention to something that Democrats passed by shoving it into their last-minute megabus bill — a provision that further erodes at Second Amendment constitutional rights: making guns with binary triggers illegal to own, and increasing penalties on straw purchasers. Every year, Democrats take another bite at the apple and continue to chip away at rights that are protected by the Constitution. It’s wrong and it needs to stop. |

A Louisville judge who ruled in March that a convicted felon can't be prosecuted for owning a gun because it violates his Second Amendment rights has issued an opposite order in a similar case.
Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Melissa Logan Bellows previously found it unconstitutional for prosecutors to move forward with their case against Jecory Lamont Frazier under a state law prohibiting felons from owning a gun because it doesn’t outweigh the Second Amendment right that belongs to “all Americans.”
But on Wednesday, Bellows ruled the opposite way in the case of Matthew Stewart, who faced the same charge, acknowledging the inconsistency in the orders, saying it was "intentional." |

Leyva said that an unknown black male entered his running truck with his wife and baby daughter inside.
Despite Leyva's warnings and offers of an alternative vehicle, a physical altercation ensued, resulting in the suspect being shot.
Upon police arrival, Leyva was detained while the suspect received medical aid but later died at a local hospital.
Despite initial difficulty in identifying the suspect, officers discovered a paper sack at the scene, suggesting a recent jail release. The Angelina County Jail is just a few blocks away from the site of the shooting. |

In a significant move, the New York Police Department (NYPD) is set to revoke former President Donald Trump’s concealed carry permit following his recent conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in a politically motivated hush-money case. Trump, who had three pistols registered under his permit, surrendered two of these firearms to the NYPD, while the third was legally transferred to Florida.
This action brings back to light the ongoing debate about the rights of nonviolent felons to keep and bear arms. |

“I raised some questions the other day about whether the different number of commas used in the Second Amendment make any difference in its meaning. Essentially, the older written versions I’ve seen in books – like Joseph Story’s – have one while more recent ones use three. I’m told the version on public display in Washington, DC has three, but that that is an anomaly to others of the period and to those sent around for ratification.”
This is where the conundrum comes in. |

Knife Rights’ federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of significant portions of the Federal Switchblade Act on Second Amendment grounds was dismissed because the named federal agencies- the U.S. Attorney General and Department of Justice-declared they do not enforce the Act, and haven’t done so since 2010, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas opined that the Act is a moribund (dying/obsolescent) statute with no “credible threat of future enforcement.” |

When Eddie and Claire Speir founded Inspiration Academy 11 years ago, not arming teachers wasn’t even a consideration.
“It was because of Columbine. We were in a spiritual war – we still are – and some people were crazy. We knew it was our duty to protect our students. Columbine changed a lot of things for educators,” Speir told the Second Amendment Foundation Tuesday.
Speir and his wife retired and moved to Florida in 2013 after selling their Colorado-based software firm. “But God had other plans,” Speir said. The couple – with no formal background in education – launched Inspiration Academy, which began with just one paid employee. |

It’s not every day that a pro-Second Amendment group gets a resounding victory at the Supreme Court, with a unanimous opinion authored by a justice who thinks there’s no individual right to keep and bear arms, no less.
And yet, last week, that’s exactly what happened, with the nation’s highest court handing the National Rifle Association a resounding 9-0 win against the state of New York—not over the state’s gun laws, but over its attempts to suppress the NRA’s pro-Second Amendment views. |

There’s a troubling trend by certain politicians to salt the ground at the U.S. Supreme Court before more significant firearm-related cases can be argued and decided. Politicians are disparaging the justices in an attempt to politicize the Court and delegitimize decisions even before arguments are heard. It’s unfolding in the cruelest ways, and it threatens the separation of powers between the three co-equal branches of government – the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches.
It is also a reminder that November’s presidential election carries with it added significance for the future of the Judiciary.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) has challenged the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on an administrative rule that violates the Second Amendment. Wisconsin Admin. Code § NR 20.05(2) asserts that “[n]o person may . . . [p]ossess or control any firearm, gun or similar device at any time while on the waters, banks or shores that might be used for the purpose of fishing.” This rule is designed to regulate fishing practices; however, it goes much further and violates the rights of law-abiding gunowners like our client. |

“Obviously, Hunter hopes that even though the evidence seems daunting that he can convince a juror to perhaps resist conviction. I don’t know, an acquittal may be out of his reach, but really they are teeing up their appeal here. They have lost the Second Amendment claim in the district court with Judge Noreika. I think they are expecting that we are going to get another Supreme Court case this term, perhaps with more clarity about the viability of long-standing federal restrictions on people who are allowed to have firearms based on certain disabilities like narcotics addiction.” |

Many people are rethinking the wisdom of having firearms in their homes.
For nearly three decades, the Dickey Amendment promoted by the NRA stymied research into gun deaths and injury by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other scientific research organizations. Only recently is the CDC once again permitted to collect and share data and do research on gun violence. In that interval, research paid for by the NRA proliferated. Americans were bombarded with the false message that a gun in the home is protective. |

The downturn is bad for the firearms industry. But, given the way gun sales have served as something of a national chaos meter, it may be a good sign for the country as it heads into another tumultuous November.
It’s a bit of a counter-intuitive trend since Americans are telling pollsters they believe the election could lead to new political violence. In fact, it’s one of the few things Americans seem to agree on these days. In a poll taken by Reuters/Ipsos just last month, 68 percent of adults said they “were concerned that extremists will resort to violence if they are unhappy with the election outcome.” Only 15 percent said they weren’t concerned. |

A St. Louis judge on Wednesday expunged the misdemeanor convictions of a local lawyer and his wife after they were pardoned for pointing guns at racial justice protesters outside their Central West End mansion in 2020.
Immediately after his conviction was cleared, Mark McCloskey demanded the city return the two guns that were seized as part of his guilty plea to misdemeanor assault, he said in an interview Thursday.
“It’s time for the city to cough up my guns,” he said.
If it doesn’t, he said, he’ll file another lawsuit. |

Gun control activists hate gun ownership. “More guns means more violence!,” they shout. They’ll swear up and down that guns cause crime, not deranged and violent people. They push an unending agenda to limit the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans to lawfully purchase and possess firearms.
Gun control activists are in for some bad news: Americans have rejected their anti-gun dogma in a Florida-sized way. |
