The crack of firing pistols punctuated a team meeting Tuesday, June 5, at the Ann Arbor Moose Sportsman's Club.

About 20 middle and high school students, some of their parents and coaches for the Dexter High School Trap Shooting Team gathered at the club's trap range - near the pistol range - that afternoon to prepare for their annual shooting event with Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office deputies.

Five students at a time paired off with deputies to take aim at orange clay discs flying out over the grassy clearing bordered by trees at the sportsman's club, located on North Territorial Road. At their signal - "Pull!" - a disc shot out of the trap 16 yards away and arched into the air at about 40 miles per hour.

Times of tragedy call for clarity in words and deeds so as to not deepen the damage done by those with evil intent. I commend Gov. Greg Abbott for the clarity of his leadership and for his draft School and Firearm Safety Plan developed with input from victims, parents, superintendents, teachers, lawmakers, law enforcement and mental health experts after the tragic shooting at Santa Fe High School.

I’ve been around Texas politics longer than many. I’ve defended our liberties as a Marine, as a lawmaker, as author of our state’s concealed handgun law and as a proud patriot and Texan. I don’t pander — I say what I mean, and mean what I say. I doubt there has ever been a Texas governor with a more pro-gun record than this one. H

Can a state attorney general unilaterally reinterpret a gun control statute to retroactively ban firearms that had been openly bought and sold within the state throughout the law’s 20 year history? William G. Young, a federal judge in Massachusetts, said yes in Workman v. Healy, the NRA supported challenge to the Massachusetts AG’s ban. That opinion illustrates why President Donald Trump’s appointments to the federal judiciary are so important.

The host, who has repeatedly attempted to present guns as a women's empowerment issue, described discourse surrounding gender relations as a "matriarchal witchhunt" in a video captured by Media Matters, a left-wing news organization.

"I am so tired of this matriarchal witch hunt on young men," Loesch opined. "There is nothing toxic about masculinity, but there are plenty of toxic things about third-wave feminism and the matriarchy that’s attempting to assert authority and also be the ombudsman over all characteristics and definitions of that which are either masculine or feminine."

When gun control activists put firearm transfer bans on the ballot under the guise of “universal background checks”in Washington, Nevada, and Maine, they argued that this was just "common sense", and they weren't trying to ban guns. While we knew this was false at the time, the current push for anti-gun ballot initiatives in several states is proving that point.

In Oregon, citizens are allowed to petition to put on the ballot an initiative that would let voters directly establish state law. To that end, gun-ban proponents in the Beaver State have filed Initiative Petition 43, which seeks to establish a ban on some of the most commonly-owned rifles, handguns, shotguns, and ammunition magazines.

“The State is declining to file charges. After getting in a verbal and physical altercation with two young women, Ms. Toussaint left the KFC and returned armed with a firearm. For several minutes, Ms. Toussaint continued to display the weapon and act aggressively. 911 was called and a disturbance can be heard in the background.

“The two young women called their father, [Redacted], who then arrived at the KFC. He indicated Ms. Toussaint then raised the weapon at him and he fired. The surveillance video takes photographs every second or so and misses this key moment; however, there is no evidence to disprove [Redacted]’s claim of self-defense.”

Exactly one year and one day after she was jailed for attacking her boyfriend with a knife, a Roanoke woman on Thursday was found not guilty of murder in his death.

Tina Marie Stevens, 24, was acquitted by a jury late into the second day of her Roanoke trial.

Stevens was charged with fatally stabbing Brandon Russell Mulhauser on May 23, 2017. The couple, plagued by drug addiction issues, had been fighting at Eighth Street and Dale Avenue in southeast Roanoke around 8 p.m. Mulhauser, 37, was struck once in the throat with her knife. Stevens used her jacket to try and stanch the bleeding, and a man who was stranger to both of them, Sean Kelly, came forward, loaded Mulhauser into his car and sped him to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital

Tiffany Main tells WSJM News one of the people involved was her boyfriend, and he was trying to protect her and her mother from a man that had held her mom hostage for about a half-hour before she showed up to surprise her and take her to breakfast. Main tells us when she got there, her mother wasn’t speaking and was acting strange while the suspect was with her. She says she was able to make out her mother saying the word “gun” before they tried to get the guy to leave.

“He backed out, pulled in, backed out, pulled in and he waited until we thought we were back in the room and he came upstairs firing,” Main tells us. “My boyfriend fired back, and we all took off running.” No one was shot in the exchange of gunfire.

Few who read this magazine are likely to be unaware of the anti-gun leanings of the Center for Disease Control, which for years has worked to treat firearm ownership like a disease that needs to be eradicated. But, newly discovered polling by the CDC shows just how far the agency is willing to go to hide evidence of the positive aspects of gun ownership.

To fully explain the recent discovery, a look at the history of Defensive Gun Use research is necessary:

It’s had to find unanimous consent on just about anything these days, let alone gun rights.

But in rural Illinois, about two hours south of Chicago, the Iroquois County board recently had no trouble passing a resolution relating to guns in an 18-to-0 vote.

Its purpose: to voice their support for the Second Amendment in a state that they fear is being controlled by progressive Chicago politicians, especially when it comes to gun control.

The gunshots that killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub June 12, 2016 continue to ricochet across Florida.

The NRA has fired Second Amendment questions at candidates running for governor. Gun control organizations also want to know where they stand on restricting access to firearms.

And parents, students and other young activists are organizing voter registration drives and promise to make guns the pivotal issue of the 2018 election.

A homeowner in Tennessee took matters into his own hands when he killed two intruders with an AK-47.

The man, who didn’t want his identity revealed for safety reasons, told Fox 13 Memphis that he was walking into his home with a friend when he came upon the two burglars ransacking the house.

The homeowner said one of the burglars had a pistol and pointed it at him, but the gun jammed.

Gov. Phil Scott and Republican lawmakers who backed new gun safety laws this year face no challengers in the August primary election, despite warnings from gun rights activists that they would face consequences at the ballot.

Also, no Republican registered for the primary in the Chittenden-7-1 district to answer GOP Chairwoman Deb Billado’s call to run against Rep. Martin Lalonde, D-South Burlington, who authored an aborted bid to ban assault weapons this year.

Now I present a new plan … about guns. I propose that the application for gun ownership, to be required universally, serve a second purpose: It signs up the applicant for service in the National Guard, thereby addressing the second part of the Second Amendment.

There, the gun owner can have the opportunity to shoot regularly at practice ranges. There may even be a purpose for automatic and semi-automatic weapons should the enlistees be called to war. All of these weapons would be stockpiled and protected by the National Guard; none go home with weekend warriors.

A legislative proposal to ban assault weapons in Delaware failed this week in the state Senate, a blow to Gov. John Carney and Democrats who had pushed the reforms in the wake of a school shooting that killed 17 people in Florida earlier this year.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday voted not to release SB 163 for consideration before the full chamber, amid pressure from opponents who argued the bill violated the Delaware Constitution and the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Yesterday, in a defeat for Attorney General Bob Ferguson and Initiative 1639 proponents, the Thurston County Superior Court sided in part with the NRA and found that certain parts of the ballot title were deceptive and misleading. As a result, they ordered amendments to several key provisions of the initiative’s ballot title. While the ballot title remains inadequate to inform voters of the real effects of the initiative, the outcome of yesterday’s hearings did result in clarifying changes that more accurately describe the sweeping provisions of the initiative’s text.

So any teacher, even one who has never even met you, can capriciously decide that you’re “crazy,” and thus should not own guns. On the basis of his unsworn, uncorroborated, unprofessional testimony alone, one’s Second Amendment Rights as a American can be instantly, arbitrarily, and probably permanently annulled, without a hearing, without warning, without ever having been even accused (much less convicted) of any crime, and without any opportunity to defend yourself.
