Angry protesters in Minneapolis and other cities where demonstrations have continued for more than a week are now demanding that municipal governments “defund the police,” but does anyone know what such a drastic move might create?
Buried in the text of a Chicago Sun-Times article might be a hint. The newspaper looked at the number of murders committed in the Windy City during a single 24-hour period on May 31 when 18 people were slain. The story quoted anti-gun Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor at St. Sabina Church, who looked around his neighborhood and saw no police. He drove around to see looting—part of the demonstrations condemning the killing in Minneapolis of George Floyd. |

On June 4, the Florida Supreme Court declared an effort to ban commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms through a ballot measure invalid, describing the proposal as "misleading" and a violation of state law. Anti-gun group Ban Assault Weapons Now (BAWN), a project of several gun control groups including the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and David Hogg's March For Our Lives, had attempted to place the gun ban on the ballot in 2020, but failed to obtain the required signatures. |

Manufacturers range from cheap factories you might not be familiar with, to premium lines like the Remington CoreLokt. The pointed tip gives shooters a flatter trajectory at long ranges compared to the basic soft tip, and experienced long range hunters can appreciate any advantage they can get. |

The German-based Sig Sauer branch is reportedly on the ropes due to a variety of reasons and is set to close by the end of the year. Multiple German media sources have carried the news of Sig Sauer’s demise in that country in the past week. Based in Eckernförde near the city of Kiel since 1951 when J. P. Sauer und Sohn GmbH relocated from Suhl in then Soviet-occupied East Germany, the firm was purchased by Swiss firearms giant SIG in 1976, forming Sig Sauer– largely to have an outlet to fulfill overseas orders for guns like the P220 without having to cut through layers of Swiss red tape.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As I have stood in the crosshairs of those who target Second Amendment freedoms, I've realized that firearms are not the only issue. No, it's much, much bigger than that. I've come to understand that a cultural war is raging across our land, in which, with Orwellian fervor, certain acceptable thoughts and speech are mandated. — Charlton Heston |
