Kudos to all of the activists of MCRGO and MUCC who worked so hard to make this possible. The new law stands as a testament to grassroots activism and interorganizational teamwork."

Most of the nearly 50 angry letters, phone messages and emails ask essentially the same question:

"How could you possibly have named a publicly funded building after someone who was wanted on felony warrants, was speeding in a stolen car, bumped a police officer with his car, knocking him onto the hood, and was in possession of crack cocaine?"

Rep. Bruce Smith (R-York) suggested lowering Pennsylvania's hunting age from 12 to 10 so more children can experience the thrill and learn the discipline of hunting.

Under the bill, 10-year-olds would have to pass the state's Hunter-Trapper Education Course. The test would determine which children are ready to hunt. The bill also requires parental supervision.

Acknowledging differing opinions, Rep. Smith said he'll hold public hearings on the bill so opponents can be heard.

"My biggest concern is that we (county gun boards) will no longer be able to take a subjective look at someone," Michigan Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said.

KABA NOTE: Yes--EXACTLY! What, there aren't enough restrictions on people's right to self-defense in the law for you? Who are you? The King of Michigan?

This article represents a spin oppurtunity for the drama/debate club on the hill. Following on the heels of W's sellout improvement of gun registrations (3 steps forward for Brady bunch), WE are supposed to feel good about this reduction in time the FBI can hold your records (c'mon you trust these guys, right? -NOT). This is the 2-steps-back part of the deal, the end advantage going to the gun-grabbers. Watch the "spin" script readers expressing their outrage or support.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of men and women. — Thomas Paine, The Crisis, Intro. (Dec. 1776).
