The .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire (17 HMR) was developed as a joint venture between Hornady, Marlin, and Ruger and was released in 2002. It is an incredibly lightweight rimfire cartridge that has a flat trajectory, high velocity, and is a favorite of varmint hunters and long-range rimfire shooters.

In 1969, Remington Arms Company designed and introduced the 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum cartridge, chambered in two of their bolt action rifles – the Model 591 and Model 592. The company ended production in 1973, after having produced about 52,000 rifles. No other major manufacturer ever produced any rifles chambered in 5mm RRM.

Florida’s Brevard County Sheriff William Ivey said 29-year-old Blake Robinson was caught allegedly trying to the burglarize a car and got “his butt whipped” by the vehicle’s 66-year-old owner. FOX News reported the incident occurred early Thursday.

Arkansas Razorbacks’ Jeremiah Davenport was in NYC for the NBA draft and ended up being arrested early Saturday morning on a gun charge.

NBC New York reported that sometime around 1:30 a.m. “officers observed a black BMW X5 with Arkansas plates, tinted windows, and the ignition on, double-parked at the location. Upon lowering the window, a strong odor of marijuana emanated from the vehicle.”

A man was shot and killed in Tuscaloosa County early Saturday in an apparent act of self-defense. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit reported deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Stardust Drive at about 3:14 a.m. June 29 and found two men who were shot.

Lawyers for Hunter Biden have requested a new trial for their client, arguing the Delaware court that convicted him did not have jurisdiction over the case. A jury unanimously found the president's son guilty on June 11 of the three felony charges he faced for lying about his drug use on a 2018 federal gun-purchase form. According to the charges, Biden would not have been allowed to purchase the gun if he had disclosed his drug use.

During my police days in the 90s, an evolution took place in the application of the use of force. Earlier, police weapons were divided into “nonlethal” and “lethal” categories. Firearms, obviously, were lethal, but everything else, such as batons and pepper sprays, were “nonlethal.” Officer all carried knives, which can surely be lethal, but they were more or less ignored as they were thought to be mere cutting tools which were not intended to be used as weapons.
