A man who shot and killed another in Springfield was acting in self-defense, prosecutors said.

A press release from the Sangamon County state's attorney said the shooting happened at 3:30 a.m. on July 7, when Martin A. Brown, 26, was inside of a home in the 1400 block of N. 11th St. Prosecutors said Willie C. Evans, 29, arrived at the home, banged on the door repeatedly and threatened violence.

With all the rioting, burning and stealing all of us have recently seen on TV while our illustrious politicians just stand by and let the criminals loot and destroy while saying nothing, you might want to consider this question: “Can you defend your property if a criminal decides to torch, steal or even harm you in your home?”

Unfortunately in this state with our wimpy politicians the answer is basically, “No, until the criminal is inside your home and you feel imminent harm!” It appears our politicians would rather protect the criminal’s rights then all of us law-abiding Massachusetts citizens. And now some of our mayors and governors want to dismantle or defund our police forces, leaving us with less protection than we now have.

HI: Second Amendment Protects the Right to Carry Arms Outside the Home

The issue before the en banc Young court is whether the Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding citizens to openly carry firearms outside the home. In 2016, an en banc panel of the Ninth Circuit held that the Second Amendment does not protect the right to carry a concealed firearm. Thus, a three-judge panel in 2018 held that the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms must protect the right to openly carry a firearm. An en banc panel of the court will now reconsider the open carry issue.

“People have the right to own guns, but military-style weaponry is not sporting if you’re hunting deer. Assault weapons are for killing people. That’s a problem. In other developed countries, police killings are minimal, mainly because in those countries there are not ample supplies of guns for every man, woman and child. Where does it stop?”

This is gun confiscation, a very clever and insidious method financed by Michael Bloomberg , setting the table to end gun ownership. The bill imposes extreme solutions to rare problems, it impedes on Second Amendment Rights, and provides for” Star Chamber” hearings of the accused. Gun owners are good people, spend your time arresting the gangs of thugs that shoot little boys and girls with illegal guns in Chicago and Atlanta. Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty or Safety”, Benjamin Franklin. Call Governor Sununu to veto this terrible bill. 603 271 2121. Remember, civility and politeness count.

DDC stands for Deep Concealment Carry. While there are apparently some guys out there that have limited professional or social obligations who can get away with carrying their full-size service pistol and multiple reloads every day, most of us can’t do that consistently. Therefore, if you want to stay armed at all times legally possible, you may need to have a DCC that consists of a different toolset better geared for concealment in less permissive environments.

Stockbridge Mayor Anthony Ford was one of ten Georgia mayors who signed a letter sent last month to state legislatures urging that they take action to repeal the state’s “stand your ground” law.

City spokesperson Shana Thornton told the Times that Ford acted independently on the issue and did not confer with the City Council or any city officials. She also furnished the following statement from the mayor:

There’s also an issue when a white person kills a Black person, it’s considered self-defense, but when a Black person kills another Black person, some people assume it is gang-related, she said.

Surrounded by Democratic lawmakers Thursday, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam ceremoniously signed several gun-control initiatives.

The gun bills were approved in April and went into effect July 1. The laws include expanded background checks, red-flag laws and laws that allow localities to impose stricter gun regulations than state and federal laws.

“At one point, a guy in a Hawaiian shirt and tactical gear wished everyone a happy Fourth of July and led the crowd — the white nationalists, the Boogaloo boys, the Black gun group — in a surreal rendition of ‘America The Beautiful.’ But the harmony was fleeting.” As soon as the white nationalists took the mic and began talking about “white genocide” . . . well, the unity, not surprisingly, fell apart.

Fascinatingly, the Bugaloo Boys sided with their armed black brothers and started shouting things like “White supremacy sucks!”

“While the Charleston Police Department’s efforts to enforce the city’s ordinance on brandishing a deadly weapon have been focused on education measures and voluntary compliance, in light of recent events, the CPD will be strictly enforcing the ordinance going forward,” the statement said. “According to the ordinance (Sec. 21-219), ‘Brandish means to wave or flourish menacingly, to display ostentatiously, threateningly, angrily or aggressively.’” Violators could face arrest and, if convicted, have their weapon confiscated and destroyed.

That history highlights a peculiar tension: The NRA styles itself as a bulwark for liberty and an essential check on state power, but its interest in confronting government abuses comes to a hard stop at the thin blue line. Even in the context of defending the Second Amendment, the group has a history of silence when advocacy could implicate cops in wrongdoing.

Most recently, the NRA’s failure to offer public support to Kenneth Walker, a licensed gun carrier who in March fired at three men forcing their way into his Louisville, Kentucky, apartment, led some in the gun rights community to express dismay.

Firearm Owners Against Crime, a Second Amendment rights organization, and several of its members sued Harrisburg in 2015, contending the city’s ordinances were preempted by a state law that prohibits municipalities from regulating firearms. Dauphin County Court ruled the plaintiffs had no standing to sue because they had not been cited under the ordinances.

Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court overturned the county court ruling and Harrisburg is appealing to the state Supreme Court.

Pittsburgh on Wednesday joined Philadelphia and a slew of anti-gun groups in support of Harrisburg, saying the Commonwealth Court decision would trigger a “flood of baseless lawsuits.”
