In this episode of "The Spark," Bloomberg follows 21-year-old inventor and entrepreneur Kai Kloepfer, who's created a "smart" handgun that could save thousands of lives.

Police officers in Mexico have been issued slingshots after being stripped of their firearms. The state of Veracruz stripped officers of their guns at the police department in Alvarado after only 30 officers of the 130-member department passed control tests and were deemed fit for service, the Guardian reported. Mayor Bogar Ruiz Rosas said the department is mostly made up of new hires who were scheduled to start training. In a symbolic protest in response to the disarmament, the mayor handed out slingshots and small bags of rocks to officers in front of the media.

There is no denying that lawful gun owners use their firearms in self-defense far more often than those decrying the “myth” of a good guy with a gun would care to admit. Firearms are, in fact, used for self-defense often and effectively.

As much as I believe in safe gun storage, I have to say, I do find this new law ironic — especially with the far left who drive Seattle. They’re always saying, “Stay out of our bedroom,” when it pertains to abortion or gay rights. But that doesn’t apply to guns. When someone breaks into your house and steals your gun from your bedroom, and then uses that gun to kill someone, you are at fault.

Mankind has played an outsized role in driving down Jackson Hole’s mountain lion population, even without a concerted effort to cut back numbers of the large cats, new research says. The mid-1990s reintroduction of wolves to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, lion hunting and the redistribution and reduction of the Jackson Elk Herd were the primary factors affecting lion survival over a recent 15-year period during which Panthera’s Teton Cougar Project studied cats roaming a 550-square-mile swath of the valley from Jackson north to the Buffalo Valley.

Grassroots activists should get to their “battle stations” in the effort to confirm federal Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to national gun rights leader Alan Gottlieb, as anti-gun Democrats led by Sen. Charles Schumer ramp up the opposition.

Schumer and others are bracing for battle to keep Kavanaugh off the high court. Their main focus initially appears to be fear about a reversal of Roe v. Wade, but those who attended a protest on the steps of the Supreme Court Monday night are all perennial anti-gunners.

A new wave of dangerous laws is being pushed across the United States. These laws don’t require due process, and your rights are removed without a crime ever being committed. If this sounds familiar, then it may sound like something out of “Minority Report” with Tom Cruise. Sadly, it isn’t a Hollywood blockbuster, it’s the new America. At least it will be if you don’t fight back. “Red Flag” laws, also known as “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” or "Gun Violence Restraining Orders,” have now passed in 12 states. Even some Republican-controlled states (Indiana and Florida) have passed these laws. They are dangerous to freedom, unconstitutional, and should be more properly termed, “Gun Confiscation Orders.”

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. — JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821)
