Hawaii Gov. Josh Green on Wednesday signed 17 "public safety" bills into law including one that bars adults aged 18-to-20 from purchasing ammunition under most circumstances.
The measure, SB 2845 zipped through the Democrat-controlled state legislature with only a handful of lawmakers voting in opposition. This sent the bill to Green's desk, a Democrat who has signed multiple anti-gun laws since taking office, often with members of gun control groups attending public signing ceremonies.

A U.S. marshal protecting Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s home shot an armed man attempting to carjack him on Friday. This instance is just one example of how guns used in self-defense can be vital for one’s safety, especially in Washington, D.C. Coincidentally, Justice Sotomayor has a history of opposing the right to bear arms for self-defense.
The would-be carjacker approached the marshal’s vehicle with a handgun. While he pointed his weapon toward the driver’s window, the marshal inside drew his firearm and shot the assailant. A second U.S. marshal also opened fire on the carjacker. The attacker was subsequently taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. |

“The Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens should not dissipate at state lines,” said Cramer. “For decades, outdated regulations have placed unnecessary burdens on our nation’s federal firearm purchasing laws. The Firearms Interstate Commerce Reform Act fortifies Second Amendment liberties by ensuring citizens can purchase and bear arms nationwide. It also enhances lawful commerce and supports our military members and their families, all while respecting states’ laws and regulations.”

Despite his lip service to the right of armed self-defense, Trump has never been a true believer, as his flirtation with the Democratic gun control agenda after the October 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas illustrated.
In addition to imposing a unilateral ban on bump stocks that was recently overturned by the Supreme Court, Trump met with members of Congress in February 2018 to discuss gun regulation. During that meeting, he spoke favorably of requiring background checks for all gun transfers, raising the minimum age for buying long guns, preemptively confiscating guns from people who might be dangerous, and even banning so-called assault weapons, to the visible delight of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D–Calif.). |

The former chief financial officer (CFO) of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Wilson “Woody” Phillips, owes the group $2 million, according to a settlement made public on Tuesday. He, along with other top officials of the NRA, including retired CEO Wayne LaPierre, approved and covered up excessive expenditures for LaPierre. When whistleblowers sought to expose the machinations dating back more than a decade, those same officials sanctioned them to keep them quiet. |

Alec Baldwin was accused of violating basic gun safety rules and playing "make-believe" with a deadly weapon, as the Hollywood star's trial for involuntary manslaughter over a fatal shooting on the set of Western movie "Rust" began Wednesday.
Baldwin was holding a prop revolver during a fateful rehearsal in October 2021 when it fired a live round, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding the movie's director.
In opening statements in a court in Santa Fe, New Mexico, prosecutor Erlinda Ocampo Johnson painted a picture of a powerful movie star who behaved in "a reckless manner" and "without due regard for the safety of others" on set. |

If you plan on attending the Republican National Convention events in Milwaukee, there are safety protocols to keep in mind. Some everyday items such as coolers, glass bottles, hammocks, light bulbs, and tennis balls are all banned inside the security zone.
But firearms? No problem!
Some guns are banned, but not the ones you’re probably thinking of. Paintball guns, BB guns, pellet guns, machine guns, water guns, air rifles, air pistols and short-barreled shotguns are strictly prohibited. But handguns? Hunting rifles? AR-style firearms? A-OK! |

Two armed U.S. Marshals on the protection detail for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor shot a would-be carjacker in self-defense last week, casting scrutiny on her co-signing a 2010 Supreme Court opinion that decried such firearm protection as a Second Amendment right.
Kentrell Flowers, 18, was shot Friday after he approached an unmarked Marshals vehicle near Sotomayor's home. Flowers pointed a handgun at one of the two Marshals on duty through the driver-side window in an apparent attempt to carjack him, according to a police report. |

This week, when the party released its new platform, gun owners realized the party gutted one of the core tenants that made Republicans, well, Republicans.
For the past eight years, the Republican Party had a detailed plan on restoring and expanding gun rights. It covered a wide range of issues tied to the Second Amendment. Previous platforms discussed the importance of landmark precedents like Heller and McDonald, and they conveyed the seriousness of appointing solidly pro-constitutional judges to the bench. They also laid bare how anti-gun jurisdictions are purposefully ignoring court rulings and how they must be stopped. |

“In a unanimous decision, the United States Supreme Court stated what myself, my Senate Republican colleagues and Second Amendment supporters have been saying since it was passed in 2022: the Democrats’ Concealed Carry Improvement Act is unconstitutional. This is a major victory for lawful gun owners.

Bailey skipped out on the St. Louis forum hosted by the Federalist Society, but in text messages on Wednesday, a spokesperson for his office blamed the rift on President Joe Biden.
"Missouri will not allow Joe Biden to trample on our Second Amendment rights," Madeline Sieren said.
Her statement references an ongoing lawsuit where local police and federal law enforcement challenged the Second Amendment Preservation Act, a GOP plan to fine police who seek to enforce federal gun laws in Missouri.
"The Second Amendment Preservation Act is an absolute travesty," Democratic primary candidate Elad Gross said. "It has destroyed a lot of partnerships between law enforcement and federal agents and dealing with violent crime. |

On the heels of a New York conviction that stripped former President Donald Trump of his Second Amendment rights, a federal jury in Delaware is considering whether Hunter Biden violated three gun laws when he bought a revolver in 2018.
If Biden is convicted of those felonies, he also will lose the constitutional right to armed self-defense.
These two cases — one involving the president’s son, the other involving the president’s opponent in this year’s election — highlight the arbitrariness of a federal law that deprives Americans of their gun rights for reasons that have nothing to do with public safety. |

The argument for little to no restrictions on gun ownership ignores the tie to militias and their historic role.
Some in today’s U.S. judiciary explain their rulings on the basis of what is called "originalism," a view that current rulings should echo the Founders' original intent. But when it came to guns, the originalism link between militias and the right to keep and bear arms has ignored. Justice Antonin Scalia, a famous proponent of originalism, wrote the 5-4 majority opinion in the Supreme Court’s 2008 ruling on District of Columbia v. Heller that the right to possess firearms is independent of service in a state militia. |

They'll show up in my neighborhood pretty quickly, but a lot of other people, not quite as quickly, and so I would say that, and also I realized when I was first talking about it, I didn't know anything about them, and liberals very often talk about guns, and they just don't know. I know a lot of people who thought like AR, the AR-15, they thought that stood for Automatic Rifle, AR. And just the little things like that, that if you don't know what you're talking about, maybe you shouldn't talk about it, or learn something first. |
