An anti-rights group said that we don’t use firearms to defend ourselves. Let’s replace fiction with fact.
The good news is that violent crime is relatively rare for each of us on any given day. On average, only one member of our family will be raped, robbed, assaulted or murdered in our lifetime. Violence will probably touch every family in the United States.
Tens of millions of us are not willing to face those odds unarmed. We’re motivated by the severity of the incident, not its likelihood on any given day.
Law abiding US civilians use a firearm for self-defense 6500 times a day. That is fact, not a myth. |

Sheets’ arrest was met with outrage by the community, leading residents to question their rights to defend their families and homes.
“[It’s] not right that the resident was charged with those charges. Those guys broke into his home and that is putting him and his family in danger and he had every right to protect himself,” one user commented on a social media post about the story.

Knowing how a firearm works and how to ensure it is unloaded/safe is a must for responsible firearm owners. Sterling TWAW (The Well Armed Woman) will be meeting July 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Tri- State Tactical, 17282 County Road 32 in Sterling, for instruction and hands-on opportunities on how to render firearms with different actions safe.
If you have questions concerning your own firearm, please bring it unloaded. If you are not sure how to unload it, please leave it in your vehicle and a safety officer will help you clear it. All weapons will be unloaded/safe, and no ammunition will be allowed in the classroom as safety is our main concern. |

For those who are ‘Numerically challenged’ the 1680’s were most definitely not the 21st century as well as being well-nigh 100 years before the time of the US Constitution. So, once again we see that “Military style”, “Assault Weapons” were around BEFORE the existence of the 2nd amendment. This while even reports of school violence were an extreme rarity.
Of course, school violence really didn’t become a phenomena until the Socialist-Left began mucking about in the culture towards the end of the 20th and the 21st centuries. In other words, over 300 years after the existence of inanimate objects that are the favourite hobby-horse of the Liberty grabber Left. |

The Florida Supreme Court Wednesday granted the National Rifle Association Freedom Action Foundation permission to weigh in on a closely watched case involving the retroactive application of a controversial change to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law.
The case appeared to have caught the attention of the NRA nonprofit because it hinges on which party should shoulder the burden of proof in use-of-force cases, and whether a change in the law in 2017 could retroactively apply to older proceedings.
The NRA group will participate as a third party, filing a friend-of-the-court or amicus brief in support of neither party. |

According to the state attorney general’s office, applicants “must complete an eight-hour weapons safety and training course and obtain a certificate of completion from a certified trainer,” as well as submitting an application with a photo, as well as being fingerprinted by the county sheriff.
All of these are eminently sensible requirements for someone who wants to take the responsibility of carrying a concealed weapon. |

Back in 2013, Cody Wilson designed a 3D-printed gun called “The Liberator.” After printing his own guns, he decided to share the plans on the internet through an organization called Defense Distributed. Because distributing plans to build guns is illegal, the State Department’s Office of Defense Trade Controls Compliance ordered Wilson to immediately stop distribution of any and all plans.
Two years later, The Second Amendment Foundation, a nonprofit, filed a lawsuit on behalf of Defense Distributed. Earlier this week a settlement was reached, allowing Wilson to distribute his 3D-printed gun files online. The federal government will also have to pay a portion of his legal fees. |

Seattle passed a law Monday requiring gun owners to store firearms unloaded and in a secured container.
CB119266 was passed unanimously by the Seattle City Council and makes it a civil infraction to keep firearms unlocked or loaded while not under control of the owner, imposing a fine of up to $500.
Violating the ordinance can result in even higher penalties, up to $1,000, if the firearm is accessible to a minor or an “at-risk” person. It can incur penalties of up to $10,000 if a minor, “at-risk” person or prohibited possessor obtains the firearm and uses it to harm oneself or another. |

Under terms of the settlement, the government has agreed to waive its prior restraint against the plaintiffs, allowing them to freely publish the 3-D files and other information at issue. The government has also agreed to pay a significant portion of the plaintiffs’ attorney’s fees, and to return $10,000 in State Department registration dues paid by Defense Distributed as a result of the prior restraint.
Significantly, the government expressly acknowledges that non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military. |

It says that Brian Edwards' letter June 15, "Guns save lives," makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims. Here are a couple of facts from the Centers for Disease Control gun violence report of 2013.
It estimates guns are used 500,000 to 3 million times a year for self-defense. Guns are used for self-defense often and effectively. |

The scene is in a cooking area of the restaurant where two women are working, one closer to the camera than the other. A large black male enters the frame just below the camera, stepping behind the counter. He throws a vicious punch into the face of the closer woman, who reels back in stunned pain.
The male continues to advance on the second woman. She, however, guides the punched victim behind her with her left hand and presents a handgun at the face of the attacker with her right hand. The male stops his advance but certainly takes his time departing the scene, apparently speaking at the armed woman the entire time. |

Just minutes after President Donald Trump announced Judge Brett Kavanaugh as his nominee for the Supreme Court, the executive director of the National Rifle Association, Chris Cox, shared the thoughts of the powerful gun lobby.
“President Trump has made another outstanding choice in nominating Brett Kavanaugh for the U.S. Supreme Court,” said Cox. “He has an impressive record that demonstrates his strong support for the Second Amendment.

In 2008, when the Supreme Court pondered the landmark D.C. v. Heller case, deciding whether the Second Amendment gives Americans the right to keep guns at home for self-defense, then-New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo issued a legal brief that asked the court to “reaffirm” that the Second Amendment doesn’t apply to state laws. That would mean states could theoretically ban guns altogether, though most state constitutions, according to the National Rifle Association, include right-to-bear-arms clauses or at least self-defense clauses. The exceptions are New York, California, Minnesota, and Maryland.
Bennett signed on the brief and was questioned about it by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) during his Nomination Hearing on April 11. |
