Glock’s black, blocky, and often Spartan guns are market dominators. Why? Lots of reasons. They work for one, are affordable, and often offer a very reliable platform to shooters. One of the big reasons why Glock has been successful is that they are fairly innovative. In 2023, it seems like they lag a bit behind, but that’s not a fair judgment since the rest of the market seems to only be catching up now. |

Handgun cartridge naming is an aspect of firearm ownership that can be confusing to new shooters at first – and if you decide to get yourself a full-size Sig Sauer 1911 or Glock 21, you might note on the barrel that it says, “45 Auto.” Excited to get some ammo for your new sidearm, you peruse the gun store shelves and are dismayed to only find boxes labeled, “45 ACP.”. |

Remember the wonderfully-named Bipartisan Safer Communities Act? That’s the federal gun control bill that Joe Biden and the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex crowed endlessly about passing last year. It was portrayed as a huge victory for the superannuated Commander In Chief and it made it through Congress in the fevered post-Uvalde climate when Texas Senator John Cornyn, along with a few of the usual suspects, reached across the aisle to Connecticut’s peripatetically hoplophobic Chris Murphy to craft a gun control bill that gave Democrats a big PR win. |

Last night, the Indianapolis City-County Council passed a proposed gun control measure by a vote of 18 to 5. Rather than addressing crime and prosecuting criminals, Mayor Hogsett and the City-County Council are focused on disarming law-abiding citizens and attempting to violate preemption with a gun control package that they admit is “unenforceable.” |

Since the constitutional carry law went into effect, firearms dealers at the first Florida Gun Shows event held in Central Florida say they had large success during the weekend. Constitutional carry has become a hot-button topic since its proposal and then signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in April. The law now allows anyone in that state who can legally own a firearm to be able to carry that firearm concealed, without a government-issued permit. |

Gun rights groups are asking a federal appeals court to overturn a lower court ruling upholding Delaware’s "assault weapons" ban and other firearm restrictions. In April, U.S. District Court Judge Richard Andrews rejected a request by the Delaware Sportsmen's Association and other groups who sued the state for a preliminary injunction blocking the new regulations from being enforced as he considers the lawsuit. |

A while back, I made reference to the little-known fact Harry Truman was something of a gun guy. I mentioned the Colt .45 ACP revolvers he brought home from World War I, a 1917 revolver and a 1911 pistol that rest in the Truman Library museum. There is also a Smith & Wesson Chief Special reportedly presented to him and which there’s reason to believe he may have carried when he left the White House. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
