On Wednesday, July 5th, the Texas County Sheriff Office received a report of shots fired at a residence on Hwy 32 East of Licking MO. It was reported by a 34 yr old male who resides at the residence, that a 28 yr old male was attempting to break into his residence where the front door was locked while cursing and challenging him. |

A National Rifle Association spokeswoman said the comments she made this week on the death of Philando Castile, a black man killed by police after disclosing he had legal concealed weapon during a traffic stop, was the organization’s official stance.
Dana Loesch, special assistant to NRA’s executive vice president for public communication and a conservative talk show host, called the incident “a terrible tragedy that could have been avoided” during an appearance on CNN.

Now that Kid Rock — aka Robert James Ritchie — has officially entered the political fray, it is time to look at what a “Senator Kid Rock” might mean for the Second Amendment.
Interviews from the past several years provide clear insight into the Romeo, Michigan, native’s position on firearms.
During an April 13, 2013, interview, then-CNN host Piers Morgan asked Kid Rock if he owned “a lot of guns” and he responded, “Yes, tons.” Morgan then asked if Kid Rock was safe with his guns, to which he responded, “Yes.” Morgan then appeared to search for a flaw he could exploit by asking, “Why do you trust 315 million other Americans to be safe with them?” |

The Democrats’ pieces of legislation would force hearing amplifying devices created for hunters or recreational bird watchers, for example, to be regulated by the federal government, so sound amplification products (PSAP) for recreational purposes would have to be regulated like present medically prescribed hearing devices.
“Today’s bill is critical because it will keep the innovation pipeline for cures, treatments and drugs open for patients. Additionally, it includes my language that protects hearing enhancers and devices used by hunters and bird watchers from potential bureaucratic government overreach. Oregon’s newest gun control effort came from the best of intentions, nourished by lawmakers’ affection for one of their own. Sadly, it fails the safety-versus-rights test because it is too broad and too vague.
Nevertheless, it passed in both houses, and the governor is expected to sign it.
The bill was launched by Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas, who lost his veteran son to suicide last year. It was promoted as a way to help suffering veterans and others contemplating suicide by taking guns away. In support of the bill, Rep. Jennifer Williamson, D-Portland, told colleagues that 60 percent of gun deaths are suicides. |

Gun control advocates are celebrating a slew of legislation passed across the country. Domestic abusers are targeted in new bills passed by five states, while other states have enhanced their background checks for purchasing firearms.
Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Tennessee and Utah all passed new restrictions on firearms for domestic abusers, according to Everytown for Gun Safety group, which is funded by billionaire and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Overall, 23 states have enhanced the laws around domestic abusers since 2013, says the gun control advocacy group. |

Three University of Texas at Austin professors filed a lawsuit claiming that letting people carry firearms on their campus would have a chilling effect on speech. Last week, District Judge Lee Yeakel dismissed the suit claiming the professors could present "no concrete evidence to substantiate their fears" and that their fears rest on "mere conjecture." Although it's certainly refreshing to see professors using First Amendment justifications with such vigor, it's even better that Yeakel dismissed their ludicrous arguments and protected campus carry. |

Tennessee cities are working to implement a new law that allows handgun permit holders in the state to carry their firearms onto public transportation.
The Associated Press reported that Tennessee’s four major cities — Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis — intend to comply with the law, which took effect July 1, but have so far posted vaguely worded rules that may leave riders confused as to what the policy actually is.
Transit authorities in Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga put the onus on riders to educate themselves on who’s allowed to carry guns, while Memphis authorities are still revising the wording of their policies but have begun allowing permit holders to carry firearms. |

A new open carry law in Texas will allow citizens to carry swords in public.
House Bill 1935 was signed into law which will allow people to legally carry long knives, daggers and spears in public.
The purpose of the law, according to its author Representative John Frullo, is to simplify laws pertaining to knives and to limit their restrictions.
Currently, blades, such as Bowie knives, swords, machetes and spears, that are over 5.5 inches are illegal. When the law changes in September, citizens will be able to carry them in public. |

Chicago’s gun crime is soaring, and the city’s mayor is pushing more gun control as a solution, but Chicago’s homicide was even higher when the city’s handgun ban was in place.
In other words, more gun control correlated with even more death and suffering.
Breitbart News reported that Chicago witnessed nearly 4,400 shooting victims and almost 800 homicides in 2016. And the Chicago Tribune reported that the city passed 1,000 shooting victims this year before April concluded. This means Chicago is on track for a year similar to 2016 in pain and bloodshed, especially when one considers the elevated violence that comes with hot summer months. |

The Carter County District Attorney announced Thursday that he has declined to press charges against a gun range employee in a fatal shooting this past Spring.
58-year-old Jonathan Braun was shot and killed by the employee of Grandma's Indoor Gun Range, at the range located off of Highway 70, back in May.
But District attorney Criag Ladd has ruled the use of deadly force was justified, after reviewing the Sheriff's report sent to him a few weeks ago. |

The police officer shot a dog that was approaching him while wagging its tail in a friendly manner—a dog that does not, in fact, appear to have been “charging” him. Then he stood his ground and shot another dog. If a non-cop were caught on camera shooting two dogs who approached in a park in the same manner, there is little doubt that they would find themselves charged with a crime, even if they possessed the gun legally and claimed self-defense. “Ciroc was shot in the jaw, Rocko in the side, face and shoulder,” the Minneapolis Star-Tribute reported. The animals survived after emergency care. |

In a Thursday report, Michael Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety took a victory lap over the fact that the Republicans control the House yet Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) is not advancing national reciprocity.
National Reciprocity was introduced by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) on January 3, 2017 and Gun Owners of America reported that it had 199 co-sponsors by June 21, 2017. Yet Second Amendment supporters have seen no action on the bill from Ryan or Congressional leadership.
So Everytown is claiming a win.
Politico reported, “Republicans in Washington keep promising rollbacks of gun control laws” but “so far haven’t taken action on any on it.” |
FL: Florida Open Carry Case Appealed to U.S. Supreme Court

The Dale Norman open carry case in Florida has been appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Most cases that are appealed to the Supreme Court are refused.
The case started back in 2012, when Dale Lee Norman walked down the street with his pistol showing. He had recently obtained his concealed carry permit, and did not realize that his firearm was completely exposed.
He was convicted of the open carry of a firearm. His case was appealed to the 4th Circuit court of appeals. The state Advocate General fought very hard to keep the case from being appealed. The case made it all the way to the Florida Supreme Court which ruled against Norman, 4-2, in a mixed decision. |

Every American, as stated in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, has the right to bear arms. Within this right includes the right to carry a concealed firearm in New York State.
On Tuesday, the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on whether to amend Local Law No. 3 of the year 2013 – A local law banning possession of weapons in Wyoming County buildings.
As the law stands right now, no persons may carry a concealed weapon into a county government building with the exception of police officer or peace officer at defined in the New York State Criminal Procedure Law. |

About a dozen people gathered at Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza across from City Hall yesterday evening, with some calling for a city ordinance mandating gun safety vaults.
Salaam Ismial, director of the National United Youth Council, organized yesterday’s rally in the wake of the July 4 shooting death of Jose Oliver Torres Tineo. Ismial said he sent a letter to Mayor Christian Bollwage and City Hall on Sunday asking for Elizabeth residents to own and register safety vaults for their guns. |

According to the lead story in the June 29 edition (“Domestic abuser gun control bill passes House”), state Rep. Teresa Tanzi says, “we really hunkered down and tried to address ... any legitimate concern that was bought up in hearings.” This was in the form of a “Substitute A,” or amendment to her original bill (H5510) that was handed to members of the House Judiciary Committee when they entered the hearing room. It added a few hastily drafted changes to the original.
This bill was described as a “family safety act” and a “domestic violence” measure. Your headline, however, more accurately calls it a “gun control bill.” |

Gun control is a necessity for the safety of the American people, and can be implemented through the banning of assault rifles.
The banning of assault rifles will protect the safety of the American people. Richard Perez points out in a New York Times article called “Gun Control Explained” that almost every mass shooting in America is carried out with an assault rifle. It is not necessary for a citizen to own a gun that was specifically designed to kill another person.
The Second Amendment is not an unlimited right to own guns. The United States has banned assault rifles before.
