Jones’ provides documentation so law enforcement can feel satisfied the weapons will not return to the streets and potentially cause harm.

The firearms were fed through a saw so that the weapon could not be pieced back together.

“That effectively destroys the firearm,” he said.

Once the functional part of the gun is broken down and sawed in half, Jones pays the department for spare parts, such as screws, nuts, bolts, grips and springs.

Jones admired a 100-year-old Mauser pistol, turning it over in his hand before dismantling it.

“I’m not sad to see them go. Clearly, they ended up here for a reason,” Jones said.

Thomas, for instance, did not write the court's landmark 2008 decision declaring for the first time that the Second Amendment right to bear arms includes an individual right to own a gun in one's home for self-defense. Scalia wrote that decision, but the first justice to propose that idea was Thomas, in a concurring opinion 11 years earlier.

Too often gun grabbers are able to spout off their absurd talking points and no one ever challenges them.

The media is more than willing to give these gun grabbers a pass on their lies.

Luckily I had the opportunity to try and debate one of them while I was in Washington D.C. recently.

By the end of the summer, towns such as this will be flooded with national reporters covering the special election for the 9th Congressional District.
In normal times, reporters would ask voters how they think Republican Dan Bishop or Democrat Dan McCready would represent their local concerns in Washington. But these are not normal times.

Instead, the questions will mostly be about Donald Trump, and about Kamala Harris or Joe Biden or Pete Buttigieg.

Sen. Lindsey Graham has engineered and is pushing unconstitutional gun laws he terms, "extreme risk protection laws," or "red flag" laws. These laws provide for unconstitutional police actions and gun confiscation. He falsely claims such laws are not in violation of our Second and Fourth Amendments. Yet, they allow authorities to take firearms from lawful citizens without constitutional due process and evidence of a crime or planning a crime. A disgruntled neighbor or relative can make false allegations that put these wheels of injustice in motion.

The gift of a gun from father to son represents a time-honored tradition of handing the rights and responsibilities enshrined in the Second Amendment to the next generation. For one father this past spring, that rite of passage has even greater significance, because his gift of a handcrafted, finely finished Walther Arms “We The People” PPQ to his son is a one-of-a-kind representation of American values.

Shooters are getting younger, Norfolk’s police chief said, and he offered up an eye-opening observation to drive that home: Some kids don’t have the hand strength to effectively fire the gun.

“That’s why you’re seeing bullets going everywhere,” Chief Larry Boone told a crowd of more than a hundred gathered in Berkley this week for the second of the Police Department’s four “Guns Down” events around the city.

He offered another: One of the people police seized a gun from within the past two years was 11 years old.

Against such a backdrop, it should come as no surprise that three weeks into the buyback, only 700 guns – of the estimated 1.2 to 1.5 million firearms in the country – have been voluntarily surrendered. Of course, maybe that speaks to the fact that gun owners aren’t afraid to stand up for their rights. As for fiduciary responsibility, some project that it would cost New Zealand about twice as much as the government budgeted if every now-prohibited gun were turned in.

The scars on Virginia from the horrific gun violence in Virginia Beach, at Smith Mountain Lake and at Virginia Tech mean little to the political class, as was demonstrated by the conduct of the General Assembly leadership in the just-called special session to find solutions to gun violence in our state [“Amid bitter divisions on firearms, moments of understanding,” Metro, July 10]. The state is in pain as families from all walks of life and from all corners of the state deal with the deaths of family members, friends and neighbors to gun violence.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962
