"To spur interest and raise funds, the association will hold a fund-raising raffle with the drawing on September 2. Gary Nelson of Jubilee Sportsworld is donating the first prize — an 1895 Marlin caliber 45-70 rifle. Tickets for the drawing will cost $10 each, or five for $40. You can purchase tickets at the Lyman and Evanston Police Departments, the Port of Entry, the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office, or from an officer."
KABA NOTE: Though we haven't checked these folks out personally to assure that they respect the Constitution as much as you do, just the fact that they're helping put a rifle in the hands of the people is enough reason to help them spread the word. Local folks who participate might consider buying a ticket in person, from an officer -- to pick his brain on the phrase "shall not be infringed". |

Police in Britain want to use stun guns as a less-than-lethal option after several police shootings kill innocent or mentally disturbed people, including one unarmed naked man. It gets more iteresting, though. At the end of the article in "gun free Britain", they now want to be freed from the great curse of the Samurai sword. It's time for "Sword Control"! |

"...a gun enthusiast posted it on a Web site devoted to the love of firearm freedom. And the inundation began. The column that produced no local reaction when it was published in this newspaper attracted a weeklong torrent of caustic e-mails from across the country. Here is a sampling of some of the reaction from firearms aficionados:"
~ Great job, guys and girls. If these are the best emails he can post to complain about, overall we're probably being more tactful than they deserve us to be. |

"This document still moves signatories in the direction of limiting legal possession and transfer of lawful small arms. It would also lay the groundwork for greatly expanded record keeping by the federal government, far beyond that allowed or required under current U.S. domestic law." --U.S. Rep. Bob Barr (R-GA), member of United States delegation to the United Nations Small Arms Conference |

Wearing masks and making obscene gestures at police cameras, about 100 people protested a new security system that scans faces in the city's crime-ridden nightlife district to search for wanted persons.
"Being watched on a public street is just plain wrong," said May Becker, wearing a bar code sticker on her forehead. Saturday night, she was wearing a sign reading: "We're under house arrest in the land of the free." |

Eco-Logic -- This treaty will require participating nations to adopt "harmonized" laws that will compel ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to collect information and data from their subscribers, without notification, and supply that information to "competent authorities." Governments agree to collect and exchange this information for each other. The committee that prepared the treaty is already working on a protocol to control "hate speech" and "xenophobia" (fear of strangers). |

Attorney General John Ashcroft signed an order giving the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General automatic jurisdiction over the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
"This action now gives the Office of Inspector General the same authority to investigate misconduct allegations against employees of the FBI and DEA that the Office of Inspector General has with respect to all other components of the Department of Justice," Ashcroft said in a statement. |

Based on deep concerns that the federal government, environmentalists, and the United Nations want to rob southern Utahns of land and water and subvert myriad Constitutional rights, Lee is shepherding a movement to ban the global organization, arm neighbors and outlaw wilderness activism. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)] |
