"The 1st and 2nd Amendments are We The People's primary battle weapons. We MUST not allow further encroachments on them. Even if the attack is against our worst enemies. We must do everything in our power, to regain them and protect them from further encroachment."

"The founders of our country were well aware of this fact, as evidenced by the patriot Thomas Paine;"

"'He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.'"

"Prior to the aforementioned 'Act', in fact up until the time of WWII, the armed American citizen was the true 'Homeland Security'. This fact needs to become reality once again, our freedoms and liberties have an absolute dependence upon it." ...

"The officer was returning home about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when he noticed a green Dodge caravan in his alley with three men inside. One man -- armed with a 38-caliber revolver -- came up to the officer's car door -- but was knocked down. Another man pulled a semi-automatic pistol -- but it misfired. The officer began shooting as both men tried to run. The driver took off." ...

"The Springfield News Sun has a story from earlier this week that puts an emphasis on exactly why gun owners, and specifically those who carry concealed, shouldn't be prohibited from entering a park or just about any other public area. From the newspaper's website:"

"Shakura Afiya Walker, 26, was found by a Springfield Police Division officer about 6:30 a.m., lying on her stomach in the grass on the north side of Davey Moore Park ..." ...

"The story goes on to report that the victim suffered a broken nose, facial fractures, and a brain hemorrhage. Serious bodily harm is an understatement in this case. While the attack may or may not have taken place in the park, the people who did this were in that park either to inflict the pain or to dump the victim where they wouldn't be seen. ..."

"Mayors in Cuyahoga County fear that state lawmakers soon will rob them of the right to bar gun owners from packing pistols in the park."

"A bill approved by the House would strictly limit city control over the carrying of concealed weapons, which was legalized by a state law two years ago. The Senate is considering slightly different legislation."

State Sen. Joy Padgett, a Coshocton Republican, said the state has to tighten the ground rules for carrying concealed weapons because varying city laws leave gun owners uncertain as to where they may tread. With each city adopting different rules, gun owners don't know what's legal as they cross municipal boundaries." ...

"Imagine that you want to scare the public into being opposed to a gun law in Ohio. What would you do? It seems that the Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers Association is throwing up a red flag that House Bill 347 would 'prohibit cities from banning concealed guns in public parks' as if they do that today."

"While HB347 would in fact prohibit local governments from enacting or enforcing gun laws it wouldn't take away a city or village's ability to prohibit concealed firearms in local parks -- they have not been able to do that since concealed carry became a general law in Ohio in April of 2004." ...

"It's one way to assure order in the court. The New York state Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics has ruled that it is permissible for judges to pack a pistol beneath their robes while on the bench."

"'From an ethical standpoint, there is no prohibition ... barring you from carrying a firearm while performing your duties on the bench,' the committee said in a decision published in this week's New York Law Journal."

"Judges would have to comply with existing laws to bring a gun into court." ...

Spitting in public is common in India but doing so on the public landed an Indian police constable in southern Andhra Pradesh state in hot water.

Police said Friday that K.R. Rao spat on students demonstrating against a rise in tuition fees for engineering colleges this week, provoking further protests by outraged parents and their children in Warangal town.

The outcry forced the police to take action against Rao, who has served in the force for seven years, suspending him on half-pay for three months.

"The incident is a black spot on the image of the people-friendly police in this district," said Warangal Superintendent of Police Stephen Ravindra.
