The Highwaymen is an entertaining movie about legendary lawman Frank Hamer and his partner Maney Gault in their hunt for Bonnie and Clyde. Early in the movie there’s a gun store scene where Hamer purchases a battery of weapons. Among them are a Thompson submachine gun, Colt Monitor, BAR, short-barreled 1911 shotgun and a couple of handguns.

Hawaii might be the picture of paradise with swaying palm trees and sugar-sand beaches. Beyond the postcard-worthy landscapes, though, there’s a troubling trend by state officials to write Second Amendment freedoms out of the island state. In Hawaii, lawmakers are taking the approach that Second Amendment rights are a problem to be tamped down and not a freedom to celebrate.

This past spring, I was invited to a turkey hunt in the mountains of Idaho near the Payette National Forest. I’ve now chased gobblers in 10 different states and experienced just about every weather pattern a spring hunter can encounter, but this trek out west though had more of an elk hunt feel (and we saw plenty). Throughout this trip, we experienced rain, snow, sleet, graupel, wind, and even bouts of sunshine. We hiked miles up and down mountainsides, covered extensive ground by machine, called in countless birds, and glassed up even more. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution. [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822) |
