Instead of Time Magazine creating the phony scenario of a crying little girl looking up at Trump on the cover, a Democrat donkey would have been a much better fit. |

The National Rifle Association of America has filed a lawsuit against the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS), New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and DFS Superintendent Maria T. Vullo alleging violations of the Association’s First Amendment rights. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, contends that Cuomo, Vullo and the DFS engaged in a “campaign of selective prosecution, backroom exhortations and public threats” designed to coerce banks and insurance companies to withhold services from the NRA. |

By announcing his newest Supreme Court pick in July President Trump will be quietly putting red state Democrats in a position where their confirmation vote will tell the tale on their Second Amendment position. Sens. like Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), and Jon Tester (D-MT) will find it difficult to vote against the justice while simultaneously trying to convince constituents they are pro-gun. |

It depends on whose ox is being gored, the saying goes, or maybe it depends on whose border is being crossed for those now outraged over U.S. border policy were silent when Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), languished in a Mexican prison in 2014 for the crime of making a wrong turn and wandering into Mexico with legal U.S. firearms in his vehicle.

Two gun rights organizations based in Bellevue, Wash., have asked that state’s Supreme Court to enjoin the Secretary of State from acting on Initiative 1639, a gun control measure that would change state gun law, on the grounds that petitions circulated to gather signatures did not include a “full, true, and correct copy of the proposed measure printed on the reverse side.”
An attorney for the Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms petitioned the state high court in Olympia Friday.

Perhaps even before the bodies of the five victims in Thursday’s shooting at the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis had been removed from the crime scene, Everytown for Gun Safety was making a pitch for money, over the name of Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
Everytown is the gun prohibition lobbying group founded by anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Moms Demand Action is associated with that group.

Since word broke last month that Universal Firearms would be closing permanently, there’s been a revolving door of reminiscent patrons, each who holds dear the little arms shop with a whole lot of history. “This is where a lot of people got their first guns,” General Manager Scott McGuinan said earlier this week, just three days before the store, located at 265 Main St. in Wakefield, would close for good. “It has sentimental value to a lot of people in the area.” |

More than 120 people gathered at the Special Tactics and Rescue Training Facility in Jefferson County for the annual Warrior Shoot. Dozens of veterans and their families came out to the range to shoot, unwind and have fun like they did when they were in the service. It was a great way to show the families what weapons were used while they were in the military.

As the deadline looms for California gun owners to register their firearms that have been re-classified as “assault weapons,” the registration system has been crashing, preventing compliance with the law if the site is not fixed. California passed a bill expanding its already lengthy definition of “assault weapon.” Under SB 880 and AB 113, which became effective in January 2017, “assault weapon” now includes firearms that are required to be equipped with a bullet button or a similar magazine locking device.

Hundreds of people, representing several different groups, gathered in Lexington on Saturday for demonstrations sparked by the actions of a restaurant owner. Motorcycles roared down East Washington Street as dozens lined the sidewalk, holding signs with sayings like "The Red Hen laid a rotten egg." Nearly everyone who came out for a series of rallies was there to show support for President Trump, after the owner of the Red Hen asked his chief spokesperson to leave the restaurant more than a week ago. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46 |
