Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden is likely to pick Sen. Kamala Harris, the vehemently anti-gun-rights California senator and former attorney general, as his running mate, according to speculation from conservative columnist Miranda Devine, who appeared on Fox & Friends Tuesday.
Biden already declared anti-gun former Texas Congressman Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke as his point man on guns if the former vice president wins in November. It would stand to reason Biden would want to surround himself with like-minded gun prohibitionists, and he is under mounting pressure to appoint a “woman of color” as his veep pick. |

But this year, the Lone Star State set a record high for the number of firearm background checks conducted in the month of June. Businesses that regularly sell firearms are required to process background checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). |

We want to welcome the gun owners Class 0f 2020! The first 5 months of 2020, on a monthly basis, has broken every January, February, March, April, and May record of the past 10 years. The numbers are truly overwhelming, and many are first-time gun owners. According to the NSSF, “More than 2 million Americans became first-time gun owners this year.” Firearms retailers estimated that 40 percent of their gun sales during the first four months of 2020 were to first-time buyers, and women accounted for a very large portion of the new sales.

The most accomplished of liars eventually come to believe their own lies. And so it is that the people who have been insisting for years that “nobody wants to take away your guns” cannot stop repeating that lie even when they are openly proposing the confiscation of the most commonly owned firearms in the United States. In March, Joe Biden threatened to slap a construction worker from Michigan after the worker told him he was worried that Biden wanted to “take away our guns.” “I’m not taking your gun away at all,” Biden said angrily, pointing his finger in the man’s face and cursing at him. “That’s bull----.” For this outburst, Biden was widely praised in the press. |

The FBI recorded its highest-ever number of background checks for gun sales in June, a 70% jump over June 2019 and the latest evidence that more guns will be sold in 2020 than ever in American history. The agency’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System said it conducted 3,931,607 checks in June, beating the record of 3,740,688 registered in March. So far this year, there have been 19,180,047 NICS checks, more than in all of the first 14 years of the system started in 1998. |

Introduced in 1898 as a black powder cartridge, the .38 Special could be considered obsolete. But it survived the shift to smokeless powder and has become a standard for competitive revolver shooters. Recent years, however, have seen two even more “obsolete” .38 cartridges gaining serious ground. The .38 Long Colt (LC) and the .38 Short Colt (SC) predate the .38 Special (Spl.) by several decades. They’re identical to the .38 Spl. in all respects except for their case length. They’re nothing more than a shorter .38 Spl. |

A board overseeing Michigan’s Capitol determined Tuesday that it has the legal authority to decide whether guns will continue to be allowed in the building and on its grounds.
The Michigan State Capitol Commission reviewed a formal legal opinion by Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel that said the board had the power to prohibit firearms at the Capitol.
In April, a number of people carrying semi-automatic weapons and other guns took part in a protest at the Capitol over Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s orders that closed many businesses in the state to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
