"Originally convened in 1996, the Congress was the idea of former Michigan Militia Leader Norm Olson. After a few years of convening sessions without accomplishing anything of importance. The Congress slowly went out of existence and many splinter fraudulent Congress's sprang up. The first main problem of the Congress was that they did not have the support of the American people. This occurred because the ordinary citizen had no clue of its existence."...

"Remember this Congress is here for the citizens to actively protest our 'de facto' government for the restoration of the Constitution. We do not support any domestic terrorism or overthrow of the government." ...

"The District Court decision was a slow, soft, pitch down the middle of the plate, and we hope to hit it out of the park on appeal to the Supreme Court."

"It took three federal judges five months to write 1,638 pages to justify how it was constitutional for Congress to control and criminalize public criticism of members of Congress."

"Each judge wrote a separate opinion. They agreed on less than they disagreed. The whole decision should be a red flag to the Supreme Court that something is very, very wrong with the campaign finance law."

"This situation is ideal for us, because our approach cuts through the fog and confusion. Better yet, the majority opinion on our part of the case is tailor-made for an effective appeal to the High Court."

"We've all heard about the frog in the kettle. Turn the heat up under him gradually enough and he'll sit there until he boils to death. It's become the most common metaphor to describe our gradual loss of freedom."

"We never ask, 'Who's turning up the heat under us froggies?' because the answer is so obvious. It's government, of course. And it is."

"But there's something else that's causing the heat to rise and freedom to evaporate into air. It's going on in all three stories above and in daily life around us. Call it the Quisling Effect."

"A new extradition treaty drawn up by the U.S. and British governments is causing alarm among lawyers concerned that it will be directed at Irish-American political activists."

"The treaty, dated March 31 of this year, is yet to be ratified and must be approved by the Senate. But attorneys familiar with the sometimes heated debate over extradition and deportation proceedings involving Irish citizens in the U.S. said they are fearful that an attempt will be made to win such approval just as the Senate is breaking up for the summer vacation. They also claim that the treaty will have a potentially chilling effect on activities linked to the political situation in Northern Ireland on the part of U.S. citizens."

The Bush Administration, that recently stood up to mighty Belgium on matters of U.S. sovereignty, is strangely silent about this treaty.

But libertarians know that it's government run amok, doing all sorts of things that citizens can't do, that causes the chaos. What was legal yesterday is illegal today.
