"Four U.S. soldiers accused of murdering suspected insurgents during a raid in Iraq said they were under orders to 'kill all military age males,' according to sworn statements obtained by The Associated Press.

"The soldiers first took some of the men into custody because they were using two women and a toddler as human shields. They shot three of the men after the women and child were safe and say the men attacked them."

Jackson police have a 10-year-old boy in custody. They say he shot a pellet gun at another boy outside a Quik Mart on Jacksons' south side. Police say the plastic pellet hit the other boy in the face, and that the victim did suffer some minor injuries. The 10 year old's being held at a Jackson youth home while prosecutors prepare charges.

Two Pontiac, Michigan police officers have been suspended and face additional disciplinary action after they were caught on an elevator surveillance camera beating a suspect. Prosecutors allege officers Joe Brinson and Ed Lasseigne launched an unprovoked attack on Mark Jones in a police headquarters elevator on July 1. Jones was in custody for weapons charges and was not seriously injured.

A Verona town councilor was stopped at Hancock Airport for possession of a loaded handgun.

Scott Musacchio, 38, was going through airport security when the x-ray technician noticed a gun in his briefcase. Musacchio told police he had been practicing with the gun and forgot to remove it from his briefcase. He was traveling to South Carolina on business.

Police say the pistol was loaded with eight hollow-point rounds. Musacchio has a valid pistol permit and the district attorney's office says he had not broken any local or state laws.

The gun was taken by police and Musacchio was allowed to board the plane.
