"In an opinion that looks at the legal history of self-defense..."
"The dissenter, Judge Dale R. Cathell, said the decision is based on the wrong body of law and will protect bank robbers and other thugs. Cathell cited cases that say a robbery is an ongoing event."

"A Bush administration decision to end funding for a program to buy back guns at public housing projects is drawing criticism as another assault on gun control laws."

Liberal Leader Bob Quinn and the police union are "seeking an urgent meeting with the police commissioner on the issue."

Looks like people are flocking to training centers in Michigan to get situated to carry concealed. Great report, too -- except for this:
"If they (state officials) would have asked me, I would have required a permit holder to be at least 30 years old and have 40 hours of training instead of eight." -- Ron Adkins, certified as an instructor by the National Rifle Association, and certifiably a MORON.

Rep.Udall (D-NM) has introduced H.R.2537 "To provide for the appointment of an Assistant United States Attorney for each judicial district for the purpose of prosecuting firearms offenses." Priority would be given to crimes of violence, and to offenses by former felons. ~~This is the "get tough on crime" approach. Don't be one of their targets.

Attorney General John Ashcroft isn't alone in believing the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right. At a United Nations conference last week, U.S Undersecretary of State John R. Bolton said that if forced to choose between the Second Amendment and the internationalist agenda, the Bush administration backs the Bill of Rights. |

Headline pretty much says it all, though the article is thinner on what actually happened. For three to four hours, two punks terrorized people in five locations with robberies and car jackings until an armed citizen put them in their place. It was a good thing the armed citizen worked for Hungry Howie's and not Domino's! |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Today the taxing power, rather than chattel slavery, is the instrument by which the parasitical element of the population subsists. And that element, which includes politicians, panics at the slightest reduction in the state's power to plunder. Once you start liberating taxpayers, even a little tiny bit, nobody knows where it may end. —Joseph Sobran |
