It’s a myth buster, the Smith & Wesson M&P380 Shield EZ. You know the myth. Guy goes to buy his “girl” or an aging parent a personal-defense gun and chooses something—small. Small in caliber and small in stature, because “fill in the blank.” Here’s how the scenario then plays out. Said guy takes girl or dear old dad to the range to try it out and put some lead on some targets and lo and behold, the recipient hates the gun. The muzzle flips, the recoil smacks and if it’s a semi-auto, the new owner might have problems racking the slide. The notion that a small gun will be the perfect fit is most often a myth.

President Trump’s impact on the federal courts was on display Friday when the Fifth Circuit appeals court fell shy of rehearing a case to strike down a federal gun control law, with a unanimous bloc of Trump judges calling the Second Amendment a “fundamental civil right” and suggesting that supporters of this gun-control law were plagued by “hoplophobia” – the medical term for the irrational fear of guns. The president is on the verge of making America’s first pro-MAGA court – but only if he fills its final open seat with another reliable conservative. |

Previously, Austin was banned from Facebook twice for giving away an AR15 on Facebook.” |

Adam Putnam surprised even members of his own Republican party with his enthusiasm for gun rights and the National Rifle Association shortly after announcing his candidacy for Florida governor. Guns should be allowed on college campuses, Putnam said in a July 2017 Tallahassee speech, and maybe it's time for Florida to once again let people carry guns openly in public, too.

If there’s one common refrain from nearly all of the Kansas candidates for governor — Republicans and Democrats — it’s support for the Second Amendment. For Republicans, that’s mostly a battle of who can express that support in the loudest tone. Gov. Jeff Colyer listed defending the Second Amendment as one of his top priorities, among lowering taxes and improving schools. Secretary of State Kris Kobach drew attention by driving a Jeep with a replica machine gun in a parade. |

It’s the summer before mid-term elections and that means Congressional candidates who are not girding for primary challenges are gearing up for November’s general elections. And you know what that means: Lot’s of show-and-tell proposed legislation from incumbents introduced during gaudy press that have absolutely no chance of passing but that’s not important.

White men in small towns are most at risk. When we talk about gun violence in the U.S., we usually look at homicides, at urban crime and mass shootings. But two-thirds of gun deaths in America don’t involve bad guys with guns. They’re caused by suicide, by people deliberately harming themselves. Even many pro-gun activists say that has to change. |

For those who think our adversaries of the Second Amendment are resting or gone away better wake up. They have not let this summer slip away. They are working like never before on preparing for the next wave of attack on gun owners. I said a gun owner, that’s you if you’re reading this. The women loaded clips into AR-15s and Glock 9mms, took off the safety and fired away. The guns, however, weren't loaded, and the ladies were firing at a video screen. On a Sunday in a trailer outside Cabela's, the women were getting an introduction to shooting sports and gun safety.
