The Bush administration today said it was ending funding for a gun buyback program at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Critics assailed the move as an attack on gun control laws.
KABA NOTE: The article notes that HUD said that authorities haven't shown much interest (only 100 of the 1,000 developments had been participating), and that nobody could guarantee that the "buy-backs" were getting criminal's guns off the streets. |

Not restoring civil rights would leave the person as half of a state resident, said C. Paul Jones, criminal law professor at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. After release from prison, an offender gets a job, rejoins a community, and should have the same rights as everyone else, he said. |

"One of the things I've noticed lately is that the government, at all levels, seems to be going out of its way to do things that enrage the citizens... Is the idea to push us so hard that we'll inevitably fight back so they can use the army to "crush us?" It's a known fact that the first people to rebel will be those most likely to rebel. It's an efficient way to get those people to "reveal themselves" so they can be "taken out." --Ray Thomas |

For example, this sometimes-intelligent columnist allowed a misinformed socialist government-worshipper to say:
"Fifteen American children die from gunshot wounds every day."
--true if you count GANG BANGERS shot by cops or other GANG BANGERS
and also said:
"In 1996, 9,390 Americans were murdered by gunfire."
--which ignores the fact that most of those "murdered" simply lost a gunfight they initiated.

"The 48-year-old Studer lives alone in a ramshackle, homemade house backed up against a rocky hillside, with dirt floors covered in carpet swatches. He has solar power, an ancient Apple computer, a telephone, and keeps a growling dog loose in the yard. He bought 40 acres in the subdivision in the early 1970s after his discharge from the Army and runs a few cows, just to keep the grass down."
And his neighbors have reported to the police that they "think he’s capable of going over the edge and hurting someone," and that "There’s a pattern of anti-social behavior" that they fear "is leading to a serious confrontation." |

Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Earley said Monday that he supports allowing gun owners with permits to carry concealed weapons into places that serve alcohol. As long as gun owners have the proper permit -- which entails a criminal background check and approval from a judge -- they should be able to carry concealed guns into bars and restaurants, Earley said. |

Dear fellow U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment supporter,
I'm sure you understand that in this crucial battle to retain our rights it is in our best interest to support those ISPs who support our rights, and diminish those who oppose them.
Please read the following links, think about what they say, and then please seriously consider switching your ISP to one that supports your views. |
