Seattle Police Department data shows homicide is up 42 percent over last year as of July 8, and that doesn’t count the two victims earlier this week, the most recent being a man who died following a double shooting Tuesday night in the city’s Central District.
That followed another fatal shooting the night before, also in the Central District, as reported by KIRO Eyewitness News, the local CBS affiliate. |

For years conservative groups and especially the National Rifle Association have been warning that the government would find a way to confiscate the guns of law-abiding Americans. Many dismissed what they regarded as a scare tactic designed to raise money.
What is happening in St. Louis should awaken us to the fact that those fears are well founded.
The top prosecutor in St. Louis has charged a married couple with “felony unlawful use of a weapon for displaying guns during a racial injustice protest outside their mansion.”

No sooner did AmmoLand News publish a story declaring that the Pacific Northwest is “under siege” than did violent protesters in Seattle and Portland try to prove it by staging another night of rioting and destruction.
In Portland, far left Mayor Ted Wheeler found himself being told to resign by the very demonstrators with whom he was apparently trying to bond, and that was before he was tear gassed by federal agents, according to Fox News. |

This video from ‘Active Self Protection Extra’ provides a different look at the “say nothing” approach to dealing with police after a defensive shooting. Conventional wisdom — and many a concealed-carry instructor — says that you should clam up when police arrive at the scene and refuse to say anything without your attorney present, because “police are not your friends” in that situation.
Defensive shooting expert Massad Ayoob disagrees, and as usual he provides solid, thoughtful reasons for that. |

If you’ve ever taken a defensive shooting course, you’ve seen him—the student who, upon firing, immediately snaps his head sharply over one shoulder then the other, as if posing for the camera. Scanning one’s environment for additional threats after a shooting is important, but many people seem to be more concerned with how they look during the scan than what they are actually seeing. Let’s consider the why and how behind scanning. |

Some might say this sounds like a Florida Man story, but it really happened in Port Arthur, Texas. A buck naked man forced his way into a woman’s apartment at the Avery Trace apartments. When he failed to leave when asked, she shot him – in his “lower extremities.”
Readers can feel free to imagine the actual anatomic location of the gunshot wound. Fortunately for the intruder, the wound was described as non-life threatening. Nevertheless, it probably hurt and likely won’t buff out. Not right away. |

The Vernon County Board intends (no date set yet) to vote on a resolution making Vernon County a “Second Amendment Preservation County.” This basically means the county would be unwilling to enforce any limitations, including universal background checks, whatsoever on guns, period. Yet statewide and nationally, this Republican leadership which is so unctuous about “protecting our Second Amendment rights” continues to put limits on democracy’s most basic right: the right to vote. Instead, let’s propose resolutions to make Wisconsin a “Voting Rights Preservation State”! |

As a new gun owner, you probably cannot believe that New Jersey Governor Murphy and Democrats in the Legislature would conflate crime and gang violence with YOU and 106,000 additional new gun owners in New Jersey. Believe it. He’s already trying to “sell” it! Even for a vengeance killing or a professional hit on a Judge’s family (could be either, right Mr. FedEx?)!
Lawful, constitutional gun owners are always conflated with criminals, gang members and especially, mass school murderers. No matter what current or future gun laws you comply with, it will never be enough. It will always be YOUR FAULT! You will always be on the defense. |

I was disgusted by the gun-giveaway stunt orchestrated by Virginia state Del. Nicholas J. Freitas (R-Culpeper) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) as a Second Amendment statement at the nominating convention to select a Republican to run in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.
Remember, Corey A. Stewart, former chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, used the same AR-15 giveaway ploy in 2017 when he ran for governor and lost badly. |

Atlanta Democratic Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms soared to the national spotlight following her speech to her city’s rioters and looters to “Stay home!” earlier this year. Democrats took notice and she’s on the shortlist as a candidate to be presumptive 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s running mate. She joined Moms Demand Action’s Shannon Watts for the latest installment in Everytown for Gun Safety’s 2020 Veepstakes. |

For some, the headlines about freedom and our future may sound like someone else’s business. It’s exactly what the NRA Foundation has been supporting for the last 30 years.
In spite of the pandemic, the NRA Foundation has continued to champion for the programs we hold most dear. While its Friends of NRA program has been put on hold during these uniquely trying times, like many other activities across this great nation, we have been working diligently to come back stronger than ever. |

For the second time this year, the Second Amendment Foundation and Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) have joined forces in a federal lawsuit against the Illinois State Police over firearms issues, this time asking the court to force the agency to comply with state law on delivering Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) cards within the state-required 30-day period.
The lawsuit is known as Bradley v. Kelly. It was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division. |

The approximately 300 full-time workers furloughed from their jobs at the Remington Arms plant in Ilion are expected to return to work within a month after certain suppliers, shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can provide raw materials again.
Still, news of the furloughs — along with a Wall Street Journal report that the company is preparing to file for bankruptcy for the second time in two years and could be sold to the Navajo Nation — has local officials concerned for Remington, Herkimer County’s largest employer. They’re willing to help if they can. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people. — Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788. |
