"While on a voyage to India, young Samuel Colt carved his idea of a revolving cylinder and a single pistol barrel out of a block of wood. ... Later, this wooden prototype would be built out of steel. Since then, the design of the revolver has transfixed the shooting world."
"A revolver is unique in the firearm industry. No other product allows the user to shoot from the pocket and fire light practice loads, heavy defensive rounds or shotshells from the same gun. A revolver does not require a magazine in order to feed it more bullets. It is the simplest, lowest maintenance and inherently accurate handgun to operate. Almost any revolver can take years of abuse and deliver the same performance as the day it was purchased." ... |

FULL TEXT BELOW:
Governor Romney has signed legislation that allows sellers of specialty target pistols to do business in Massachusetts.
The bill gives the pistol makers an exemption from a requirement that forced them to test at least five examples of all new guns until they were destroyed.
The law aims to prevent accidental discharges.
But the specialty pistols sell in small numbers, and at higher costs than regular guns. Pistol makers decided the requirement made it uneconomical to sell the guns in Massachusetts.
James Wallace, head of the state Gun Owner's Action League, said target shooters will be pleased with the change. |
