... "With the political considerations that beset any Congressional effort, and noting documented past deliberate indifference by the Office of Inspector General to whistleblower concerns about Fast and Furious, appointing an independent investigator —while noting who would object to one—could present the best option for uncovering the whole truth, and for identifying how high up into the Administration decisions resulting in 'walked' guns were made." ... |

"With so many violent acts in America, what is under-reported is how intervention could have prevented the completion of those violent acts. This would be in spirit, in personal force, and involvement. These elements are missing from violence prevention programs as if they were useless. In truth, there are critical to the millions of reports annually from police around the country where citizens stop violence on their own." ... |

"In a post today to the SHOT Show blog, Chris Donack of the National Shooting Sports Foundation says they will be 'repurposing' the SHOT Show effective with the 2013 show. They will be limiting participation to those companies in the outdoor, hunting, shooting, and tactical industries. With a 300 company waiting list for participation, NSSF wants to make sure the smaller and newer companies have an opportunity to participate." ... |

"Has someone you loved recently passed on to that great trap field in the sky? Is deer hunting with Grandpa one of your fondest childhood memories? Or would you just like a way to make sure your trusted Labrador can continue to help you bring in those ducks once he’s gone? "In the wake of revelations that the deranged killer in Norway used a Ruger Mini-14, the Violence Policy Center has released a 'report' calling the Mini-14 the 'poor man's assault rifle.' This term came from 'Assault Pistols, Rifles and Submachine Guns' - an old, out-of-date book (published in 1986) - by Duncan Long" ... |

"I don't think there’s a more ubiquitous and well loved pistol round than the 9mm. Sure .22lr is great for plinking, but it's so dirty and underpowered for home defense that you may as well be lobbing spitwads at the bad guys. Whether you're looking for something to make your range time a little quieter or to protect your hearing on your nightstand gun, Advanced Armament Corp. thinks they have the perfect accessory: their Ti-RANT 9."

... "There are three basic components to armed self-defense: gun handling, marksmanship and strategy. If you know how to load, carry and deploy your weapon safely, well done. If you can shoot a fist-sized group at a target whilst moving from combat distances, excellent. But if you’re training doesn’t include real-world strategic thinking, you’re missing THE critical element." ... |

"There’s a reason George Lucas equipped his Storm Troopers with Sterling-based blasters and not MAT 49's, Jati-matics or Owens. The Sterling is one sexy-looking submachine gun (SMG). It's also got some serious pedigree. Fighting forces have deployed the Sterling SMG in many important conflicts to excellent effect. During the 1952-56 'Mau Mau Uprising' white Kenyan farmers and British counter-insurgency irregular units used the Sterling SMG to hold off determined, numerically superior forces. The Sterling also saw service in the 1948-60 Malayan Emergency, the 1969-1994 'troubles' in Northern Ireland and the 1982 Falklands War. You can purchase a Sterling for around $10k. Or you can buy the Century Arms Sterling Sporter . . ." ... |

"Ever since it became clear that U.S. gun shops are major suppliers of weapons used by drug traffickers in Mexico, this country has had an obligation to help stop the slaughter south of the border."
"So far, however, the federal government has failed to make a dent in this destructive traffic. An early Obama administration initiative, known as Operation Fast and Furious, was widely ridiculed for giving agents of the [ATF] permission to allow drug cartel associates to buy weapons and smuggle them across the border in an attempt to gather evidence on Mexican kingpins. The program was shut down after it came to light." ... -------
KABA Note: Watch the guns go to Mexico, then pick them up at crime scenes . . . how exactly does this "gather evidence on Mexican kingpins"? |

TO REMEMBER |
| "Some people think that the Second Amendment is an outdated relic of an earlier time. Doubtless some also think that constitutional protections of other rights are outdated relics of earlier times. We The People own those rights regardless, unless and until We The People repeal them. For those who believe it to be outdated, the Second Amendment provides a good test of whether their allegiance is really to the Constitution of the United States, or only to their preferences in public policies and audiences. The Constitution is law, not vague aspirations, and we are obligated to protect, defend, and apply it. If the Second Amendment were truly an outdated relic, the Constitution provides a method for repeal. The Constitution does not furnish the federal courts with an eraser." --9th Circuit Court Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, dissenting opinion in which the court refused to rehear the case while citing deeply flawed anti-Second Amendment nonsense (Nordyke v. King; opinion filed April 5, 2004) |
