The tragically incompetent mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, appeared on CNN’s State of the Union this weekend to deflect attention from the horror show unfolding in her city by blaming interlopers for its spiking murder rate: “We are being inundated with guns from states that have virtually no gun control, no background checks, no ban on assault weapons — that is hurting cities like Chicago.”

It’s America’s pump gun. With over 11,000,000 made, Remington 870s are everywhere. My favorite place for an 870 is resting on my knee as I sit against a tree trunk in the turkey woods, but you will see them in duck blinds, cornfields, treestands, police cruisers, military armories, pickup trucks, and in the rack at gun clubs. In short, anywhere someone needs a rugged, no-nonsense shotgun, an 870 is probably there. Sometimes you’ll see 870s in places you wouldn’t expect to.

As a bullet caster, nothing beats heaving large hunks of cast lead projectiles at a target and watching the results. These heavy projectiles get their power from weight, which is the main component of momentum, but speed — not so much. The heavier an object, the more resistance it takes to slow it down once in motion, like plowing through bone and muscle of some animal you want brought down.

A man who admitted to fatally shooting an armed Black Lives Matter protester in Austin on Saturday night was taken into custody and then released pending further investigation, the Texas city's police chief said.
Chief Brian Manley said detectives assigned to the homicide unit detained the man and interviewed him after he called 911 shortly after the shooting. The man said he had shot someone who approached his vehicle during the demonstration and pointed a weapon at him.
The chief said after the vehicle turned into a crowd of protesters and was honking its horn, witnesses observed Foster holding an AK-47-type assault rifle and approach the driver's side window as some protesters pounded on the vehicle.

Much like the rest of the country, Virginians have been buying firearms at a tremendous pace. According to data from the Virginia State Police, there was a 158 percent increase in firearm transactions in June 2020 when compared with June 2019. This came after a nearly 100 percent increase in May 2020 over May 2019. Moreover, research from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, as well as anecdotal reports, suggest that many of these transfers are to first-time gun buyers.

Today, July 27th, the California Legislature reconvened from the extended summer recess. As you recall, just prior to recess, the California Assembly sent AB 88, the Public Safety Budget Trailer Bill that was riddled with anti-gun language, back to the Senate for additional work. Unfortunately, when it comes to gun control and the California Legislature, some things never change. The Assembly is expected to vote this week on SB 118, another Public Safety Trailer Bill with identical anti-gun provisions. SB 118 expands California's "Assault Weapons Control Act" and expedites the effective date for precursor firearm part restrictions.

As someone who works in Second Amendment policy, I often feel as though I have heard every bad, impractical or naïve gun-control argument that could possibly exist; in fact, it is becoming increasingly rare for me to find myself truly stunned at a statement made by a pro-gun control politician or advocacy group. |

Before we start this tale of an AR-based pistol, let me get something out of the way, because this is the Internet. The firearm in question is an AR-15-pattern gun. Its cosmetic design was inspired by the A-10 Thunderbolt II, an aircraft in the inventory of the United States Air Force. A-10 is the designation for the aircraft. You will note it lacks the “R” after the “A” that you would see if I was writing about an AR-10 firearm. This is NOT about an AR-10-based firearm. Begin article. |

Evergreen State gun rights activists are stunned at what appears to be hypocrisy of anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, which sent out a pair of emails in recent days, one complaining about the National Rifle Association’s ability to raise $1 million in June, and the other reminding recipients about the $60 million it plans to spend to help elect “gun sense candidates.” |

Put another way, a tech and sports titan reportedly worth over $72 billion is giving a media titan reportedly worth over $60 billion a king’s ransom to take away the civil right to keep and bear arms of ordinary Americans.

One could not talk about the LM-4 without covering its father, Philip Lichtman. Harvard educated and the holder of more than 30 patents, mostly for innovative surgical instruments, Lichtman was described in his 2017 obituary as having “seven avocational passions in the course of his life: fishing, model airplanes, butterflies and entomology, telescopes and astronomy, cars, guns, and collecting and restoring oriental rugs.”

According to a report, 130,000 people purchased a hunting and fishing license for the first time in 2020. Nearly 50,000 people who had not purchased licenses in years, had them re-activated.
