A little rain didn’t stop Moffat County’s 4-H shooting teams from competing for a place at state in the past week.
“That little shower was just part of the day,” said Coach Jody Lee.
More than a dozen children ages 8 to 18 competed at Bears Ears Sportsman Club in Craig for a chance to move on to the state level in August in Pueblo.
Parents, grandparents and siblings looked on under the shelter of pop-up awnings while the junior and senior 4-H members competed Saturday, July 20.
Theresa Young’s granddaughter, Jamie Perez Young, 9, was one of the youngest competing.

The city of Virginia Beach is the scene of another deadly shooting that has claimed at least one life and put another person in the hospital, but anti-gun Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam is surprisingly silent, and there is little news coverage.
Maybe it’s because the dead man, and the injured man were shot by a legally-armed citizen while they were allegedly trying to pull an armed robbery at a convenience store. Long story short, a “good guy with a gun” stopped two bad guys with guns, sending one to the emergency room and the other to the morgue. |

A Leon County circuit judge late Friday struck down a state law that threatened tough penalties if city and county officials approve gun regulations. Florida since 1987 has barred cities and counties from passing regulations that are stricter than state firearms laws. But in 2011, lawmakers went further by approving a series of penalties that local governments and officials could face if they violated the prohibition.

A recent study, funded by the National Institute of Justice and conducted by anti-gun researcher Phillip Cook, takes an interesting approach to the question of how long criminals possess a firearm before they are arrested and charged with a firearm-related crime. It is well known, and acknowledged even in this study, that for firearms recovered by law enforcement many years typically pass between the first retail purchase of the misused firearm and its illegal use or possession. The average “time-to-crime” in the U.S. is over 9 years according to the latest ATF data. |

Some banks have embarked on a business path to enact policies to restrict gun sales and exert pressure on the firearms industry. Two of the banks grabbing headlines for anti-gun policies are Citibank and Bank of America. In present-day American culture, exposing inconsistent, deviant, fraudulent, immoral, shocking and even illegal actions of politicians, celebrities, media and businesses often isn’t enough. |

Any fan of Nosler ammo has to be familiar with the Nosler Partition. This premium hunting bullet is one of a kind due to its unique design that is almost like two bullets fused together to create an "H" shape. There are two cores in the Partition bullet, separated by the copper-alloy that jackets the bullet, except for the tip and the base. This is an exposed lead base bullet with a soft tip, and while it shares some similarities with later Nosler lines like the AccuBond, it’s really in a class of its own. |

It's still steamy and summery in Maine, but one of the signs of the fall hunting seasons has arrived, as it's now legal to lay bait for bears. Maine hunting regulators allow hunters to place bait for bruins starting Saturday. The season in which it's legal to hunt bears over bait lasts from Aug. 26 to Sept. 21. That's when most of the bear hunt takes place, though the rest of the season continues until the end of November. |
