Since much of the emotional debate has been covered ad nauseam by insightful comments like “I carry a .45 because there’s not a .46,” and “Calibers that don’t start with a ‘4’ just make people you shoot irritable,” we’re going to take a slightly different approach – by the numbers. So, today, let’s discuss why choosing 9mm is the only sensible option in this day and age. Any other choice will probably get you killed and mocked mercilessly by France.

It will be legal to post directions to make 3D printed guns online starting on Wednesday. State officials in Pennsylvania announced they have blocked one company from posting directions online. Now, New York legislators are talking about regulating these guns as well. Guns created by 3D printers are called "ghost guns" because they can be printed without a serial number and are untraceable. According to experts, printing a completely plastic gun, without metal, is illegal.

With summer now in full swing, the last thing kids are thinking about is going back to school. But it ought to be the first thing parents are thinking about, especially when it comes to school security. Honestly, it is a bizarre fact that, in this country, our jewelry stores and airports and banks are more protected and, apparently, more important than our children. Think about it. Our NFL games, our NBA games, our office buildings, our politicians and our movie stars are all protected better than our children at school.

Solid facts are rare in the ocean of opinion about arming teachers. Allowing armed defenders in school is a polarized issue with plenty of passion. Let's look at the facts.

I asked the best sources I could find if school staff should be armed to protect our students. Their answer was clear.

Hundreds of times I’ve been handed a program while walking into a play in New York City. Walking into an off-Broadway production the other night, I experienced a theater first: An usher handed me a copy of the U.S. Constitution. I suspected I’d come to the right place, and so I had: The play, The Originalist, which will run at 59E59 Theaters through August 19, is a smart, challenging, heterodox, and delightful look at Antonin Scalia.

Upon reading America’s 1st Freedom in June, I experienced that unsettling sensation when you feel that something isn’t good. Long before, I had realized that the Democratic party is on the wrong side of virtually every issue. I once thought it was because its members seemingly had no moral compass. Now, I see that they do have a compass, but it’s a bogus compass that’s 180 degrees out of whack. In the article “Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, The NRA Has Got To Go,” Dave Kopel cited, “The elimination of legal gun ownership in the United States requires repeal of the Second Amendment.

Leonard Pitts, Jr. is a Miami Herald columnist who writes a lot of left-wing nonsense. In his latest column, he's managed to outdo himself. His latest opinion piece, here, says one death is too many when it involves guns, so I have some easy questions for him.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. — Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888).
