All modern metallic cartridges consist of a brass case that contains gunpowder capped off with a bullet. Rimfire and centerfire cartridges are both metallic cartridges; the difference is in how they are primed. A centerfire cartridge has a primer that’s inserted into a hole in the base of the brass cartridge. With rimfire ammunition, the chemical priming compound is distributed within the hollow of the rim of the cartridge case.

Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Rich Worley indicated there were Americans celebrated their Second Amendment rights over 1 million times in June, the 47th straight month of record-setting gun sales. According to the FBI, background checks for gun purchases passed 1 million last month.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner blasted Republican legislators during a post-mass shooting press conference Tuesday, insisting that they are "against [voters'] safety." On Monday night, a gunman opened fire in the Kingsessing section of southwest Philadelphia, killing five people and injuring several more. Multiple children were injured by the gunfire, including a 2-year-old who was shot four times in the legs.

Another swing and a miss for the NRA and their high-priced attorneys at the Brewer law firm, this time in a motion to intervene in a case brought by Ranier Arms and the Second Amendment Foundation. This is just the latest in a long line of expensive failures for the NRA’s very expensive attorneys.

“Today Governor Gavin Newsom proposed a 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to enshrine fundamental, broadly supported gun safety measures into law,” a press release from his office announced Thursday. “While leaving the 2nd Amendment unchanged and respecting America’s gun-owning tradition, the Governor’s proposal guarantees common sense constitutional protections and gun safety measures that Democrats, Republicans, independent voters, and gun owners overwhelmingly support – including universal background checks, raising the firearm purchase age to 21, instituting a firearm purchase waiting period, and barring the civilian purchase of assault weapons.”

Liz Dunning, vice president of Development and Partnerships for the Brady Campaign, lamented to MSNBC it has been difficult to get the current Congress to pass strict gun control laws. Therefore different members of Congress are needed to get that done.

Five people are dead and at least 33 others have been wounded in shootings across the city of Chicago during the Fourth of July weekend, police say. According to Chicago police data, collected between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. on the holiday, a total of 68 people were shot, eight fatally, over the same weekend last year.

President Joe Biden on Tuesday again called for stricter gun control, including a ban on semi-automatic rifles, after several deadly “tragic and senseless shootings” leading up to the July Fourth holiday. At least 10 people were killed in mass shootings in Baltimore Philadelphia, and Fort Worth, Texas. The incidents — as well as others in Wichita, Kansas, and Lansing, Michigan — left dozens of others injured.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said Tuesday that the dealer who sold guns to the person involved in a mass shooting in Kingsessing "should be sued until they're out of business." "Any day that something like this happens, it's a tragic occurrence," Kenney said before Tuesday's Fourth of July Celebration of Freedom Ceremony.

Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Rich Worley indicated there were multiple shooters involved in the block party attack in which 30 people were shot, two of them fatally.

Breitbart News reported that the shooting occurred just after 12:30 a.m. The Associated Press noted an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were killed in the incident.

FN over the past few years has been trying to shrink down its 9mm carry offerings as an answer to market demands sparked by guns like the SIG P365 and Springfield Armory Hellcat.
