"So why is there such a disconnect between Coolidge's success and his reputation? In large part, it is because he advocated individualism, as clearly spelled out in his speeches (which he composed himself), and the newspaper column he wrote after leaving the Presidency."
"But while that seems appropriate for someone born on the Fourth of July, it is so distant from the modern mindset that many now cannot understand why someone who, as Senator, Governor, Vice-President, and President viewed government intervention in broad areas of life as a problem rather than a panacea."
* Liberty is not collective, it is personal. All liberty is individual liberty.
* There is no substitute for a militant freedom. The only alternative is submission and slavery.
* The property of the people belongs to the people. To take it from them by taxation cannot be justified except by urgent public necessity. Unless this principle be recognized, our country is no longer secure, our people no longer free.
* The Constitution is the sole source and guaranty of national freedom.
* ...what the people cannot do their government cannot do.
* There can be no perfect control of personal conduct by national legislation. |

"When the Founders spoke of liberty, they meant that each of us has a right to plan and live his own life, as he thinks best, to pursue happiness in his own way, by his own lights, provided that in doing so he respect the equal rights of others to do the same. ..."
"That right 'to pursue happiness,' which is nothing less than the foundation of individual liberty, is key to understanding the Declaration's basic principle ..."
"Yet the more we ask government to do for us, the more we undermine that vision. Every time government creates a new program 'for our own good,' it forces us all to a common vision of the good..." |

"I’d like to remind you that 'the common good' was a common excuse the communists used to relieve people of their rights and property. 'The common good' is a frequent mantra among those who seek to disarm you – those who want to take away YOUR right to keep and bear arms. When you hear someone in power use the 'common good' as an excuse to relieve you of your individual rights, run like hell! There is no 'common good,' just like there is no collective right. Society is comprised of individuals, and when one individual or a small group of them is forced to give up his or her basic rights so that others may profit, the 'common good' disintegrates into tyranny of the majority – the very tyranny our Founding Fathers sought to avoid by creating a Constitutional Republic called the United States of America."
"Remember the principles on which our country was created this Independence Day. Celebrate the courage and freedom that is part of America’s history. But also look around you and remember how easily the fragile components of our freedom can be dismantled by the powerful few. And say a prayer of hope that the nation wakes up before it’s too late." |

"Don Bird is one of those Americans who isn't afraid to stand up for his rights and is willing to fight to keep them. In November 2001, Don filed a Writ of Mandamus in U.S. District Court in Sacramento against Gray Davis, former Governor of California and Bill Lockyer, current Attorney General of California. The purpose of this Writ was singular in its purpose: 'To demand the respondents obey the oath (of office) and acknowledge the fact and exact true wording of the Second Amendment.' " ...
"The District Court denied Don's Writ, so he appealed to the 9th Circuit Court, who issued a 'No decision.' In March 2003, Don filed a 24-page Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the Supreme Court which was not heard." |

In an attempt to court the conservative vote, Kerry pretends he's a friend of gun owners and farmers.
Check out the fourth picture of Kerry trap shooting. Eyes closed, mouth agape, firearm pointed God knows where... And look where his finger is! You can tell he sure has a lot of experience with safe gun handling. NOT!
This guy has combat experience??? No wonder they sent him home early... he was probably more dangerous to his men than the VC. |

The newspaper's website doesn't post "News Of Record" items, so I copied it from paper to my website (with comments).
"A caller reported a handgun and set of handcuffs left on the front seat of an unattended vehicle at Omache Drive. A county reserve officer said he had mistakenly left them unsecured. Information was relayed to the county's reserve coordinator."
This is a clear violation of RCW 9.41.050, yet the elites don't appear to be held to the same standards as common citizens. |

"We've got to face reality and see that the term 'limited government' has been worn out and no longer holds power, emphasis or really any meaning." ...
"There are at least two reasons why this term is dead. First, those who stand for a perceived smaller government have committed adultery. I'm not talking about a random liberal who spouts off about fiscal responsibility. I'm talking about conservatives who make a commitment to smaller government and talks the talk about such things, but doesn't actually do anything. ..."

"Nine teenage boys assaulted an Asian family one night, beating a mother and son. Another couple were attacked walking their dog."
"Pulman encouraged fellow victims to keep diaries and video the gang's activities, evidence that was presented in court. In one clip, the youngsters are jumping on Pulman's car."
"Her actions led the court to issue three anti-social behaviour orders (Asbos) to the teenage ringleaders of the gang and the family was eventually evicted."
"In total, 391 orders have been handed out in Greater Manchester, dwarfing the number in all other authorities, and the city has been held up as an example of how to make Asbos work. In May, Pulman was invited to meet Tony Blair at a Downing Street reception to reward people who had taken a stand against anti-social behaviour."
------- How pathetic the once-courageous England has become. Now, when its citizens get harassed or terrorized by neighborhood thugs, they're supposed to videotape the abuse, instead of defending themselves. As if the "anti-social" label will somehow prevent criminals from abusing their victims! |

Criminals won't walk into a gun shop and submit themselves to a background check. They're more likely to get their weapons this way:
"Along with the extensive damage, police found a hammer and knife they believe the burglar or burglars used to do the damage."
"Police also found eight guns in a hallway that had been removed from a pair of gun cabinets in two other rooms. Police believe the burglar or burglars planned to steal the weapons before they had to flee."
"Three shotguns were missing from the man's weapon collection, Ponteri said." |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. — Ronald Reagan |
