"On June 26, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) filed a public records request with the city of New York for all records relating to city resources used for MAIG’s gun control efforts." ...

"Senator Joe Manchin seems to be determined to give the voters in gun-friendly West Virginia more reasons to get rid of him. He’s made anti-NRA ads. He’s working on new gun control legislation. He’s claiming Beretta twisted his words when they said why they won’t consider relocating to the Mountain State. And now…the poster child for citizen disarmament and Manchin’s new BFF, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is hosting a fund-raiser for him at his upper East Side home on July 22. This affiliation is particularly interesting, as Manchin says he has never discussed gun control with Bloomberg. Yet, there they are. ... Meanwhile, back on planet Earth . . ." ...

"Dianne Feinstein introduced her Assault Weapons Ban fresh on the heels of Obama laying out his 23 executive orders to curb gun violence, and now gun control advocates are in full force laying out their arguments to restrict our Second Amendment rights. I am sure those on PolicyMic have heard the arguments before, but here we will lay out some of the most popular talking points in favor of more gun control and debunk those myths." ...

"These and other victories remind us, once again, there’s much to be grateful for this Independence Day."
"'I can’t thank Larry Pratt and Gun Owners enough for standing with Jared and his family during these difficult days. You were there when we needed you. GOA and GOF’s legal and financial support was critical to Jared’s defense, to blocking the gag order which the government asked for, and finally obtaining a dismissal of all charges ...' — Ben White, attorney for Jared Marcum"
"Gun Owners of America wants to thank all of you who contributed to the Jared Marcum legal defense fund."

"All charges have now been dropped against the West Virginia teenager, and Jared will not have a criminal record." ...

"Whether ... Aaron Hernandez is guilty of murder is up to a Massachusetts jury. But looking at the case laid out by Bristol County assistant district attorney William McCauley, the futility of attempts to reduce gun violence by restricting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans is clear."

"Hernandez is charged with the execution-style murder of his friend Odin Lloyd. In addition to first-degree murder, Hernandez faces five gun charges. Strict Bay State gun-control laws did nothing to protect Lloyd. And if the prosecution is correct, they did little to discourage Hernandez from accumulating a stash of weapons."

"No changes to the nation’s system of background checks would have prevented this grisly murder. " ...

"The new Beretta Pico, previously reviewed on this blog, seems to be a good choice for the recoil sensitive and senior citizen shooters. The gun is small and easy to carry. You can get it with an integrated laser or light. With a simply barrel change you can convert it from a .380 to a .32 acp. It is bigger than a LCP but smaller than a Sig P238. It may be the perfect single gun for older couples that share a gun due to the two calibers it shoots. It comes with two magazine, a flush fitting one and one with a pinkie extension." ...

"Always a bad idea to let Mom's decide things related to self defense. Most do not like their sons to pay contact sports much less play with guns. Not to be sexist but my association with guns and shooting spans more than four decades and my experience shows that a lot more women know little about guns than men. I do not recall any of the little girls I knew playing with toy guns or wanting to play soldier when I grew up. I certainly do not want Moms, using their kids, interfering with my gun rights because they believe violence is unnecessary and think that by banning their use by law abiding citizens it will make their children safer rather than defenseless." ...

"Israel’s security is renowned for being particularly tight, but officials failed to detect a 3-D printed gun when a local TV show snuck it into the Knesset – the country’s parliament building in Jerusalem. Twice. Israel’s Channel 10 has given us a taste of what might happen when the wrong people get their hands on 3-D printing technology." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: OMG! OMG!!! A TV crew managed to sneak a useless chunk of plastic into the Knesset. TWICE. But still useless the second time since they couldn't get ammunition through the checkpoints (a minor fact unmentioned in this and several other articles on the "breach").

"Gun control forces are targeting Sens. Kelly Ayotte, Max Baucus and others as they struggle to persuade five senators to switch their votes and revive the rejected effort to expand background checks to more firearms buyers."

"With Congress back from a weeklong recess, the bottom line remains familiar: Advocates of broadened checks lack the new votes they need and Congress has moved on to other issues. A few lawmakers who opposed expanding the checks when the Senate defeated the measure last month say they'd consider changes the sponsors might offer but haven't committed to backing anything, while others show no signs of switching." ...

... "An extensive search for unarmed mentally ill mass murderers came up with a total of zero cases of sick people without guns who murdered large numbers, or even small numbers of people. Adding guns enables the killings. Killing without a gun is very difficult, if not impossible for most unarmed people, mentally ill or not. I believe that this is a very sound way to prevent mass murders, i.e., don’t have as many guns. Adding more guns has the opposite effect, increasing and causing murders, mass and individual."

"The prime sponsor was quoted as saying it is OK for women to defend themselves at home, but not on the street. We bear the burden to try and run from our assailants. If we do not, if we choose instead to protect ourselves or our children, in the court of law we have to prove we could not get away. The prosecution has no burden to prove otherwise." ...

"The prosecution had us all wondering which side it was on until Tuesday, when we finally detected that they were putting on a case. At the close of business Monday, Detective Chris Serino stated that he believed Zimmerman was telling the truth when he gave his recorded statements to Sanford Five-O. Tuesday started with a sustained prosecution objection to that answer, which was stricken from the record and magically excised from the hearts and minds of the jurors . . ." ...

"Now why do you think our founding fathers added this amendment? Was it because they supported violence? Not at all. It was because they were able to throw off the tyranny of King George only because most citizens owned guns for hunting and personal protection." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them. — Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States; With a Preliminary Review of the Constitutional History of the Colonies and States before the Adoption of the Constitution [Boston, 1833].
