Nosler, based out of Bend, OR, is celebrating the birth of America with the creation of a special run of its M48 rifle. The new gun is called the Independence Day Rifle, and a limited run of 25 guns will be made for this collection, providing a select number of users with a precision rifle platform with a unique number of custom touches. The rifle will feature a synthetic stock dipped in the popular Kryptek Highlander camo finish, along with a laser-engraved magazine floorplate that will feature "We the People" over the image of an American flag, giving a subtle touch of Americana for freedom-loving rifle-shooters and hunters everywhere. |

About a year ago, I wrote a column in which I stated that there should be no real argument about what gauge shotgun adults should choose as long as it was a 12-gauge. That column provoked a few responses from people, including one of my close friends who didn't like me putting down their 16-, 20- and 28-gauge shotguns. I didn't think I really put those gauges down as much as I explained the advantages of more shot and the better patterns available with a 12-gauge. Anyway, we had a lively e-mail conversation for a about a week after that column came out. |

What would happen if gun-prohibitionists got what they wanted and disarmed honest citizens?
Last month, a Democrat tried to kill many Republican politicians on a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia. Within minutes and as expected, gun prohibitionist politicians said we need more gun laws. The prohibitionists asked for universal background checks and more gun-free zones. Would that work to stop even a single mass murder? Let’s see what would happen if the prohibitionists got what they wanted.
Gun control fails, yet gun prohibitionists continue to call for more. They want us disarmed, not the criminals.

On this day, 241 years ago, our nation adopted its Declaration of Independence, telling England that we would be a sovereign nation forever more.During the run-up to the 4th of July, private individuals and loose affiliations of people began to purchase and store weapons fearing all-out war with England. Hearing that everyday men and women were arming themselves, the British commander sent troops to seize the weapons, sparking the battle of Concord which only accelerated the rush to the Revolutionary War. |

The Chicago Defender claims President Donald Trump should not be able to use executive orders to erase or reverse gun controls that former President Barack Obama implemented via executive orders. The paper alleges that Trump, and other presidents, should have to present their executive orders for a vote so that the orders can gain approval before being implemented. The Chicago Defender zeroes in on the repeal of Obama’s Social Security gun ban, saying, “One of the first regulations that Trump opposed was Obama’s executive order on gun control. Obama made it mandatory that information be released on those who are mentally ill and included in background checks, making it impossible for those with certain diagnoses to buy guns. |

A bipartisan bill that would allow a judge to take away an Oregonian’s guns in extreme circumstances moved one step closer to passage Monday in the House Rules Committee. Senate Bill 719 would create an extreme risk protection order based on clear and convincing evidence that the owner, or possessor of the weapons, is an imminent danger of hurting him or herself or another person. |

Americans love rifles. From the Revolutionary War—where our Pennsylvania and Kentucky rifles showed a definite advantage over the British smooth bores—to WWII—where the Garand was dubbed “the greatest battlefield implement ever devised—Americans are proud of our designs. While the military rifles and hunting rifles have, in most cases, taken on two different guises, the love for a fine rifle hasn’t changed since the founding of our country. As we approach the anniversary of the announcement of our independence, and the greatest upset in history, let’s take a look at the five most iconic American hunting rifle designs. |

If you hang around a British person long enough, you are practically guaranteed to hear him make a derisive quip about Americans. In all likelihood, he won’t even notice that he’s done it. I have been at many dinner parties at which it has been baldly stated, without embarrassment or regret, that Americans are “all fat” or “all stupid,” or . . . well, you can pretty much choose your epithet at random, and I have watched with irritation as the line was met with general agreement. |

What I celebrate on the Fourth of July is the greatest nation in the history of the world the Founding Fathers invented 241 years ago, not what we have today. I really believe the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution would hang their heads in dismay if they saw the mess we have made of things. |

The revelry of fireworks and parades offered little comfort in some parts of America’s third largest city. Chicago again — as in recent years — celebrated a bloody Fourth of July weekend, with at least six homicides and nearly 40 shootings, according to police. Those numbers don’t include the Tuesday holiday, when more revelers pour onto the humid streets. |

State lawmakers are considering a bill allowing people to carry concealed weapons into gun-free zones without being criminally liable. Ohio Public Radio' Andy Chow reports. The Republican-sponsored bill would let concealed carry license holders take their guns into gun-free zones including restaurants, schools and courthouses as long as they’re not caught. If they are caught and if they leave immediately they won't face criminal charges. |
