The Kansas City Star is reporting disagreements among Missouri law enforcement officials over the state’s new Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) preventing state lawmen and women “from enforcing a variety of federal gun laws,” and at least one Democrat state lawmaker has raised an argument about violation of the Supremacy clause in the U.S. Constitution. |

A report from Fox Business notes that San Jose residents who refuse to comply with a city-level fee on gun ownership will face confiscation of their firearms.
On June 30, 2021, Breitbart News reported the San Jose city council passed more gun control in response to the May 26, 2021, mass shooting in the city. That attacker in that incident used legally purchased handguns which were registered in California in accordance with state law.

The majority of all U.S. counties have been designated as Second Amendment sanctuaries, according to an analysis by SanctuaryCounties.com. As of June 20, there are 1,930 counties “protected by Second Amendment Sanctuary legislation at either the state or county level,” representing 61% of 3,141 counties and county equivalents in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. |

On 28 May, 2021, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania reversed a decision that held that Stroud Township had the power, through zoning ordinances, to prevent people from discharging firearms on their own property. The Court reversed a summary judgment by the Court of Common Pleas of Monroe County dated 26 May 2020. The plaintiff, Jonathan Barris, appealed the decision on the grounds that Township Ordinance No. 9-2011 was unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. |

Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson launched his first term in public office Thursday by issuing a series of mayoral directives within hours of being sworn in, signaling his intent to lead the city in a more conservative direction.
The retired commercial and military pilot takes office as the city faces economic challenges and a homelessness crisis, both exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Bronson made criticizing the city’s handling of those issues central to his campaign.
Two hours after his inauguration, Bronson announced a set of four mayoral directives further outlining his priorities: economic recovery, streamlining city services, easing COVID-19 restrictions and declaring the city a “Second Amendment sanctuary municipality.”

Pending the board of supervisors' approval, Jasper County could become the first county in Iowa to declare itself a Second Amendment sanctuary. If designated a gun sanctuary by the all-Republican Jasper County Board of Supervisors at its upcoming meeting July 6, the county could oppose the enforcement of any federal and state legislation it deems would infringe on the constitutionally protected rights for people to keep and bear arms. |

I occasionally hear “reasonable” gun-control advocates arguing that they just want guns regulated the same as cars; they add that no one thinks car control is unreasonable—registration, driver’s licenses, and mandatory insurance. Even ignoring that there is no constitutional provision guaranteeing a right to own and drive a car, my response to this is: “Gun owners would mostly love that.” |

An outdoor recreation store, that also sells firearms, has caused major tension for surrounding homes and businesses that are within 300 feet of the facility, including a daycare. “We do our best to secure our properties, to make our values what they should be, to take care of our kids and our families,” said David Crouch, who lives in the neighborhood that sits behind Valley Outdoors. “We just feel that the ordinance was put in place for a reason, it should be upheld and it shouldn’t be overridden.”

Hawaii Gov. David Ige (D) on Thursday signed three new gun control bills into law. Supporters are referring to the laws as “gun safety” measures. The first bill, known as HB 1366, amends laws dealing with so-called “ghost guns.” Before this bill was signed into law, it was a Class C felony to manufacture, purchase or obtain non-serialized firearm parts in the state. HB 1366 amended the Class C felony to now include the possession of non-serialized firearm parts. |
