... "That’s despite whistleblower sources claiming in early January, 2011, that guns were being walked 'to pad statistics.' It was through these sources that the story was investigated and reported by citizen journalists while 'legitimate media' remained deliberately indifferent, until information coming to light could no longer be contained, prompting many 'Authorized Journalists' to manage and spin it instead." ...

"A growing number of Americans are getting permission to carry firearms in public—and under their clothes—a development that has sparked concern among some law-enforcement authorities."

"Applications for 'concealed-carry' permits are soaring in many states, some of which recently eased permit requirements. The numbers are driven in part by concern that renewed gun-control efforts soon could constrain access to weapons, along with heightened interest in self-defense in the wake of mass killings in Newtown, Conn., and Aurora, Colo." ...

"I’ve heard stories of an Army instructor who likes to read the riot act to his soldiers. 'Any soldier engaging in close quarters combat (CQC) deserves to die.' His thinking: if the soldier and his cohorts had allowed the enemy to get close enough to go hands-on, the good guys had all failed at their jobs. Miserably. I’m not exactly sure why I told you that; civilians are highly likely to 'engage' a bad guy at bad breath distance. I mean, what perp worth his salt wouldn’t attempt to surprise his victim? So what do you do? Well, you could learn the techniques above. Nothing wrong with that—other than the fact that there isn’t a range I know where you can actually practice shooting from your nipple. Meanwhile . . ." ...

"As if a two shot .45/9mm was not a great defensive pistol (not), Heizer plans to release a 1 shot .410/.45lc "shotgun" this fall. Just what I always wanted, a one shot pocket shotgun so if I miss or do not stop my attacker I am screwed. Perhaps we will soon see a no shot pistol. It just looks like a gun but does not fire. It can be used to scare away bad guys but will be thin and easy to carry. I am not in favor of gun manufacturers that cater to those who value ease of carry over all practical self defense situations. Sure one or two rounds can do the job but so could an ice pick and yet, no one carries one of those for self defense. ..." ...

"'Moms Demand Action has teamed up with Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns Action Fund, placing an ad on the homepage of Thursday’s USA Today website, calling for signatures to a petition to 'declare your independence from gun violence,' politico.com reports. 'More than 85,000 people have signed the petition as of Thursday.' Bullshit. MDA was created by a media maven for media mavens, despite the group’s indisputable inability to physically assemble a group larger than a quilting bee. "'Massachusetts lawmakers are still grappling with dozens of gun-related bills more than six months after a shooting rampage left 20 first-graders and six educators dead in neighboring Connecticut,' pressherald.com reports. To quote Ellen Foley, STOP RIGHT THERE! Before we go any further, do lawmakers 'grapple' with legislation? I’m thinking that 'sleazing' would be more apt. Secondly, what bill can prevent another Sandy Hook-style homicidal rampage? The State Troopers, above, understand the importance of firepower in that regard. And as we’ve pointed out before, post-Sandy Hook mental health measures can have the exact opposite effect ... Hey, you want gun control? The Bay State’s got gun control. To wit:" ...

"You don't often hear about lawsuits based on the Third Amendment, the one that says "no soldier shall in time of peace be quartered in any house without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war but in a manner to be prescribed by law." That usually overlooked provision is cited in a federal lawsuit recently filed by Anthony Mitchell and his parents, Michael and Linda Mitchell—an oddity for which we can thank the Henderson, Nevada, police department. The Mitchells, who live in separate houses near each other in the Las Vegas suburb, were forcibly evicted from their homes on July 10, 2011, by police officers responding to a domestic violence report involving one of their neighbors. Here is how it all started, according to the complaint:" ...
