Prosecutors say they are not charging a man who was arrested earlier this week in connection with a fatal 2018 stabbing near Alki Beach.

The King County Prosecutor's Office said Friday that the 25-year-old man has a "plausible" claim that he acted in self-defense during the altercation where Jonathan Pecina was killed.

A man was fatally shot here on Thursday by a shooter who police believe may have been acting in self-defense.

Brian Fredde, 43, died Thursday of wounds from a singe gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded about 2:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of a homicide in the 400 block of Hill Street, the sheriff's office said.

Police said evidence investigators obtained "suggests the suspect acted in self-defense."

The problems encountered since the new ammunition background check system was put into effect on July 1st 2019, have far surpassed what we predicted, and we predicted a train wreck.

The approval process takes over a half hour per customer, instead of the promised two minutes. DOJ is imposing unnecessary and costly requirements on vendors. Countless customers are being turned down by DOJ for lack of ID even if they have a California driver’s license. Law abiding people cannot get ammunition they need for sport or self-defense. Businesses may have to close as a result of this extreme regulatory burden.

Teachers in Utah are spending some of their summer learning how to care for wounds and shoot guns as part of a training held by police to prepare educators for an active shooter in their schools.

About 30 teachers met at a gun range last weekend as part of the first Utah County Sheriff's Office Teachers Academy, where educators spend four weeks practicing how to respond to a shooting. Other sessions have focused on de-escalation techniques, self-defense and medical responses.

Washington state has raised its minimum age for purchasing a semi-automatic rifle to 21, along with other new rules governing gun ownership. The age restriction went into effect in January, with the other changes taking effect July 1. But some in state law enforcement have vowed not to enforce the measure, arguing that it violates the Second Amendment.

“The new city regulation gives petitioners everything they have sought in this lawsuit,” assistant corporation counsel Richard Dearing wrote. “The new state law, upon signature by the governor, will make the case doubly moot.”

If the case is not dismissed, the city will continue arguing the dispute is moot in a legal brief due Aug. 5. They will not address the merits of the controversy, Dearing wrote.

After the 2012 Newtown, Ct., school massacre in which 20 young children died, several senior National Rifle Association officials thought the organization should take a less confrontational approach on gun control issues, the Washington Post reports.

Over their objections, NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre struck a defiant posture. In fiery public appearances crafted by Ackerman McQueen, then the organization’s LaPierre announced that the group would create a model program to train armed security guards who could protect schools from shooters.

Many new laws went into effect this month, one of which allows Iowa college students to carry stun guns on campus.

According to KWWL, the new law states that "officials at public universities and community colleges can no longer limit or ban the use of stun guns on campus grounds." Furthermore, it requires that institutions like the University of Iowa change their policies that previously banned stun guns, and states that they "cannot limit the carrying, transporting, or possessing of the devices on college buildings or campus grounds", according to the Des Moines Register.

Last week, from the Democratic primary debate stage, former Vice President Joe Biden said we were the enemy.

“Our enemy is the gun manufacturers, not the NRA, the gun manufacturers,” Biden said.

Not a single candidate on stage that night, or the night before, condemned the remark. Their silence is tacit agreement. Not a single candidate had the courage to name the violent criminals as the problem or the fortitude to stand up to those who prey upon the vulnerable in our society. Instead, they are blaming us as an industry and the law-abiding gun owners we serve.

When I first noted Andrew Cuomo’s efforts to misuse financial regulations against the National Rifle Association, I had hope that it would fail. I had hope that it would be like a last, desperate throw of the dice for one of the worst anti-Second Amendment extremists in the country. Furthermore, I had hope that its failure would be assured by the fact that Second Amendment supporters would unite against the abuses.
