Nancy Miramontes had 30 seconds to find the gunman. The Utah school psychologist weaved through a maze of dusty halls before spotting him in the corner of a classroom, holding a gun to a student’s head. She took a deep breath and fired three shots, the first time she’s ever used a gun. One bullet pierced the shooter’s forehead. |

The Supreme Court should dismiss a challenge to New York City’s gun transportation ban because a new ordinance will moot the case, city lawyers told the justices Wednesday. The ordinance and a newly-enacted state law will give the plaintiffs who challenged the transportation ban everything they have sought in court, making dismissal the appropriate course, city lawyers wrote in a letter to the high court.

Democrat presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell told CNN background checks would make us “all safe in America.” Swalwell said he went shooting with two veterans and Shannon Watts, the founder of Michael Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action.
He said, “What I found when we had veterans and NRA members and a mom who cares about gun violence, was there wasn’t much that we disagreed on.” He added, “And 72 percent of NRA members who have been polled said that they wanted background checks too.”

Sometimes one can see the advantage and sheer entertainment value of the President tweeting something to set off the Authoritarian Socialist Left on some new issue or direction. Were it not such a serious topic, the reaction of the Left to Gun Pride Month would be hilarious. Several cases had them contradict themselves in one publication, with the usual demands for gun confiscation in one instance, while they called for the arming of the Left in another.

Glocks are among the best known and well-proven pistol platforms in existence. Since their introduction in the mid-1980s, Glock pistols have transformed the handgun market for armed professionals and citizens alike, and have become the bar against which other guns are measured, particularly with regard to rugged reliability. At writing, the basic Glock platform is in its fifth iteration, denoted “Gen5” by the Austrian maker and its Smyrna, Ga., based American arm. Each of the evolutions have been widely reported on by this and other publications, so rather than retread covered ground, this review will be confined to one model—the G19 Gen5 MOS FS—and focus specifically on several noteworthy features.

Second only to Old Glory itself, the Betsy Ross Flag is the American icon. Its clean design is similar to our current flag, with 13 stripes and only 13 stars in a circle (representing the equal status of what were then the 13 united individual sovereign nations). This simplicity is perhaps the reason for its popularity among American Patriots and Constitutionalists, as it hearkens back to an earlier time when America was still a place of freedom and resistance to tyranny. |

The NRA has decided to stop production of new content on NRATV, and while shows prior episodes will supposedly remain available, the link, www.nratv.com/series, only leads to the NRA’s main page. This is the outgrowth of fights within the NRA and between that organization and Ackerman McQueen, an advertising agency that ran the NRA’s channel.

A new California law restricting the sale of ammunition took effect last week and San Luis Obispo County gun advocates are firing back at what they call a misguided attempt to curb crime. The law, which took effect July 1, requires people buying ammunition to pay $1 to complete a background check at the point of sale before purchasing ammunition. The eligibility check runs the person’s ID through a database that searches for restrictions or prohibitions related to the person’s criminal record and gun purchasing history.

Is Washington state’s Initiative 1639, which raised the legal purchase age for semi-automatic rifles to 21 and added enhanced background checks and a safe gun-storage provision, constitutional? At this point, that remains unclear. But as the full voter-approved law went into effect on Monday (although the age restriction went on the books in January), it’s now ripe to be challenged in court. It’s highly likely legal challenges will be coming and courts will consider the constitutional concerns surrounding I-1639 as well as the dubious way signatures were garnered to put it on the ballot.

Jordanian authorities are working towards laws to prohibit the sale of automatic or semi-automatic firearms, in the latest attempt to curb customary celebratory fire in the country. The new 2019 weapons and ammunition draft law, if passed at the Lower House’s Legal Committee, would also force current holders of automatic or semi-automatic weapons to relinquish firearms to authorities even with legal permits.
