I’m going to be honest about something right off the bat — I’ve never been a huge fan of the 1911 platform. This isn’t to say I am not deeply appreciative of John Moses Browning and his creation, or I don’t have a deep and abiding respect for the work the 1911 platform has done around this globe for more than a century.

An occupant in a Tucson, Arizona, home shot and killed an alleged robber around 1:00 p.m. on Independence Day.
KGUN 9 reported the incident occurred “in the 100 block of East Elvado Road.” The alleged robber, 31-year-old Freddy Wayne Batt Jr., reportedly demanded money and drugs from the home’s occupants, one of whom then shot and killed him, Tucson.com noted.

‘Merica: Grocery Stores Selling Ammunition Out of Vending Machines in Alabama and Oklahoma

Some grocery stores in Alabama and Oklahoma now have American Rounds vending machines which allow customers to buy ammo for their guns while getting a cart full of groceries for their families.
Cleveland.com reported on the vending machines, noting they are currently in six locations and “[use] artificial intelligence technology to verify a buyer’s identification and age through card scanning and facial recognition software.”

Law enforcement is investigating a deadly shooting in Louisiana, Missouri, on Saturday. Members of the Louisiana Police Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the 800 block of North 4th Street in Louisiana, Missouri, for a call for a shooting Saturday. At the scene, they found a 53-year-old had been shot by a 24-year-old and was killed.

Smith introduced the Model 1854 to an excited crowd at SHOT Show earlier this year in .44 Mag/Special and now six months later has expanded the line to accept the venerable .45 Colt.
