"On the way home, after the guns were safely unloaded and appropriately locked in the trunk of our car, he was thanking me for taking him shooting and wanted to stop on the way home for a Slushie."

... "Feeling the familiar frustration of the many ways federal intervention had screwed up public education during my then-35-year teaching career, I reflected on what I’d recently taught my students about 'gun-free zones' as part of a Second Amendment lesson. Fox News had put together an effective, short satire on them in the form of an infomercial. The pitchman explained the benefits of putting up 'gun-free zone' signs in homes, businesses and public places. A potential robber with a gun would try to hold up a store. The owner behind the counter put his hands up and pointed to a 'gun-free zone' sign, whereupon the robber put down his gun and left the store in frustration. ..." ... |

The reporter chooses to focus on the idea that responsible, honest citizens are concerned, and are exercising their Constitutional rights, and are choosing to carry concealed. "I've been interested in firearm stopping power for a very long time. I remember reading Handguns magazine back in the late 1980s when Evan Marshall was writing articles about his stopping power studies. When Marshall's first book came out in 1992, I ordered it immediately, despite the fact that I was a college student and really couldn't afford its $39 price tag. Over the years I bought all of the rest of Marshall's books as well as anything else I could find on the subject. I even have a first edition of Gunshot Injuries by Louis Lagarde published in 1915." ... |

"'We've all seen dash-cam videos of officers standing in the open and repeatedly yelling commands to 'Drop the gun!' at noncompliant, threatening offenders. The officers are not using the deadly force that they're legally justified in using, and they're not doing anything else–like moving to cover or withdrawing–to gain a tactical advantage. These officers get caught in a repetitive verbal loop because they perceive they are losing control of the situation and they can't figure a way out. They are tactically frozen.' "United States Representatives Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD) and Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) are urging Congress to criminalize gun trafficking to Mexico and increase regulation of gun trade within the United States. A forum on gun trafficking was held last week prompted by an investigation into the failure of ATF operation 'Fast and Furious' and a recent focus on the tens of thousands of assault weapons flowing into Mexico each year. While listening to the testimony I became increasingly concerned about the lack of gun regulation in the United States. ... The testimony highlighted the lack of federal laws regulating gun trade in the U.S., preventing law enforcement and U.S. Attorneys’ offices from taking action." ... |

For those not familiar, also known as Project Gunrunner, the [ATF] ran a program to run guns with the hope they'd lead them to the pot of gold - Mexican criminals.
