Some came in red “Moms Demand Action” T-shirts, while others wore bright orange stickers declaring “Guns SAVE Lives.” Both sides of the gun-control debate were well represented during a recent forum on gun violence legislation hosted by several local state lawmakers ahead of the General Assembly’s special session, which kicks off Tuesday. |

Virginia Beach Republican Del. Glenn Davis will carry legislation that would allow municipalities to ban guns in local government buildings, with some caveats. Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment, R-James City, went further, introducing a bill that would prohibit guns and other weapons “in any building owned or used by a locality for governmental purposes in the commonwealth,” a summary of the legislation reads. It’s one of several substantive bills on guns introduced for the session by Norment, who expressed some openness to legislation on gun violence in the wake of the Virginia Beach municipal building massacre. |

Rifle-modification options used to be limited to accepting your rifle as-is, paying a gunsmith to work their magic or carefully tinkering with a gun that could hardly be considered modular. Thankfully, we have come far enough out of those dark ages that many upgrades are within reach if you have the right tools, a little time and a willingness to follow instructions. Unfortunately—and in spite of the many how-to sources for firearm mods—DIY-ers still get into trouble from time to time. Improperly attached muzzle devices— especially those which double as suppressor mounts—are more common than they should be and may lead to a damaged firearm, sound suppressor and shooter. A few simple guidelines can help you avoid these outcomes.

Military Ballistics Industries, also known as MBI, has made a relatively recent entry into the world of ammunition manufacturing. Launched in 2009, the founder of MBI was an active machine gun shooter and sought a way to produce high-quality, affordable ammo to help subsidize his hobby. Fast-forward to today, and the brand has a good reputation for their high-quality new and remanufactured ammunition, and their product line includes ammunition for the most popular calibers on the market – including 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 Auto and 38 Special.

No one would mistake the Supreme Court’s liberal justices for adherents to the concept of “originalism,” or the belief that one should consider—first and foremost—the Founders’ intent when ruling on constitutional issues. And yet their opinions in the Maryland “Peace Cross” case suggests that they, at least implicitly, support the idea.

Earning 1,754 points of the available 1,800, Soroco High School graduate Taylor Kirby and the Civilian Marksmanship Program team from Colorado secured a victory at the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships in Nebraska in late June.
Just 10 months earlier, on Labor Day, Kirby rolled her truck five times. Suffering serious injuries, Kirby and her family weren’t sure if she would be able to compete at nationals, which she qualified for just two weeks prior to the accident.
“I tell everybody, ‘God gave her a second chance,” Taylor’s father, Rick Kirby, said. “She had everything going against her as far as her head injury. Her balance was affected, and the brain injury affected a lot of different things.

The Democratic Party is in a bind. This is the inference to be drawn after the first two recently aired Democratic Party Debates. And no less a source of Radical Left, Marxist hate-filled proselytizing and propaganda-filled garbage than The New York Times newspaper recognizes this indisputable fact; and, recognizing it, laments it, but for a very specific reason–one that may not be apparent to the casual reader.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them... — Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 (1894). |
