For Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox to have a realistic shot at becoming Alabama’s next governor, two improbable events will have to occur. First, his Republican opponent incumbent Gov. Kay Ivey will have to face a scandal proportionate to the scandals Roy Moore encountered during his years in the political arena, including the allegations of having inappropriate relationships with minors, which plagued his 2017 U.S. Senate special election. Second, Maddox will have to portray himself as a moderate Democrat with conservative leanings.

Nine Democrat Attorneys General have sued the Trump administration, challenging an out-of-court settlement made last month by the Justice Department with Defense Distributed and the Second Amendment Foundation over release of 3-D gun technology, but the move is being heavily criticized by many readers of Washington State’s largest newspaper. Led by Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, who has made a habit of suing the Trump almost since the 2017 inauguration, the group also includes attorneys general from neighboring Oregon, plus New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.

This is one of the most critical times in the 147-year history of the National Rifle Association. That’s not an exaggeration. In fact, it might understate the challenging reality we face today. The all-out assault against the NRA is unprecedented. Financial, digital and physical attacks over the past several months have been vicious. So, too, are the extralegal coercion and the mounting flood of legislative and media threats from adversaries who seek to destroy the NRA and obliterate our Second Amendment freedom.

On March 9, 2018, Breitbart News reported that Scott signed a $400 million gun control bill, which included confiscation of firearms and waiting periods for long gun purchases. The confiscatory portion of the bill was presented as a way to prevent another Parkland-style shooting, but such a law already existed in California where high profile shootings remain a common occurance.

Everett gun owners could be fined up to $250 if they do not report their lost or stolen firearms within 24 hours.
The Daily Herald reports the Everett City Council passed an ordinance earlier this month, making it an offense for not reporting a lost or stolen gun inside the city. The law goes into effect Saturday.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution. [Bliss vs. Commonwealth, 12 Ky. (2 Litt.) 90, at 92, and 93, 13 Am. Dec. 251 (1822)
