Even after being told the setup was a fake, this media 'professional,' who immerses himself for a living in the stuff that dreams are made of, accepted without question that the rest of the illusion must be real—because, after all, it was a public service announcement. Besides, who’s ever known an advertising agency to stretch the truth?"

"Gun rights advocates like to point out that the hysteria over 'assault rifles' is misplaced. AR-style modern sporting rifles are a lot less likely to be used in a crime than handguns, as statistics reveal. The New York Times (no less) reports that 'In 2012, only 322 people were murdered with any kind of rifle, F.B.I. data shows.' The numbers don’t reveal the percentage of MSRs in that total, but you can bet it’s pretty low. Besides, what difference does it make? Traditional hunting rifles are just as deadly as 'assault rifles', as this story [via burlingtonfreepress.com] reveals . . ." ... |

"Hunting in Africa is big business. The African countries depend on hunters, willing to pay extravagant tag fees to the government and spend many thousands of dollars in the local economy, to fund their conservation efforts that preserve and protect these beautiful animals from poachers and extinction. Earlier this week Delta, United, and American Airlines all announced that they will no longer allow the shipment of hunting trophies on their flights. While the reaction from Americans was one of support, the African governments who actually understand the situation are saying that this PR stunt might be single-handedly responsible for eliminating any remaining conservation efforts for these animals." ... |

"In the wake of high-profile mass shootings in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Louisiana, some of the calls for more 'gun control' are coming from a perhaps surprising direction. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the firearm industry's trade association, is calling for revisions to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) that would deny more people the most effective means of defending life and liberty. What's more, they are proudly boasting of having done so in the past, and lamenting the fact that 'gun control' groups won't give them any credit for their own 'gun control' efforts." ... |

The implication was that shootings in theaters are becoming commonplace and they bemoaned the fact that nothing has been done to prevent such tragedies. The obvious conclusion: CNN’s anchors wanted to see more gun control legislation. Since that hasn’t happened they are blaming every attack on the evil NRA and gun owners. And handgun rounds aren’t the super-deadly one-shot killing machines you see on TV; shooting someone with a pistol – any pistol – is no guarantee that they’re going to stop attacking you or other innocent life. The key takeaway here: don’t stop scanning for threats after you discharge your firearm in self-defense. But it’s not as easy to train yourself to do that as Front Site would have you believe. He was able to get his gun after 72 hours, even though the background check — which he would have flunked — was still in the works. Every crime involving the use of a gun, from robbery — without even firing a shot — all the way to murder, should be labeled a hate crime and the perp should receive a mandatory no-parole life sentence. If we are so enraptured by the wording of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution — in the same way, perhaps, ISIS is committed to the strict, narrow-minded interpretation of the Koran — let's stick to the strict wording of the Second Amendment and force the creation a well-regulated militia." ... |
