"Today's revelation that the City of San Francisco might consider an ammunition registry scheme brought a promise from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms that a lawsuit would quickly follow."

"CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said in a report in the San Francisco Examiner that Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier is working with the City Attorney's Office to 'craft legislation' regarding an ammunition registry shows the city has learned nothing from its defeat in court over a 2005 gun ban proposition. ... Now that the Second Amendment has been incorporated to the states by the U.S. Supreme Court, proposals like this one are even more dubious, he observed." ...

"In the wake of the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation's victory in McDonald v. City of Chicago that incorporated the Second Amendment to the states, henceforth the gun rights battleground will be all about defining 'reasonable regulation.'"

"On that front already, anti-gunners are going after the authority to determine how, when and where citizens who have the right to keep arms may bear them. Washington CeaseFire's Ralph Fascitelli jumped into this back on July 29, in the wake of the Lake Sammamish shooting, and a look eastward will help Evergreen State residents fully appreciate the dilemma." ...

"Like most industries in America from the fall of 2008 until recently, the online ammunition business has been a roller coaster ride. LuckyGunner.com’s story is like most American success stories: a combination of hard work, overcoming adversity, entrepreneurial innovation, and a touch of good fortune. The co-founders, all under age 30, successfully navigated the Obama-induced ammunition shortage, the Great Recession, and the normal challenges faced by all small-business owners to transform their idea into a website specializing in ammo for sale with over $3,200,000 of revenue in its first twelve months." ...

Is 308 Winchester the New .223 Remington?

"TTAG recently tested the ArmaLite AR-10 using a wide variety of Remington 308 (7.62 NATO) rounds. In terms of practicality, the AR-10 only weighed a bit more than an AR-15 chambered (as you know) in .223 (7.62 NATO). So why not buy a slightly bigger gun that fires a bigger, more powerful, longer range bullet? It's a question Bushmaster answers with a new 308 chambered carbine, 'another step in the continuing evolution of the AR platform' . . ." ...

... "Now, the Second Amendment is one we all know and has spawned some of the nicest t-shirts in my closet, but unless you've read The Constitution recently, you might not have noticed that someone (I'm guessing Obama) went and added some un-American words to it. We all learned in bible/gun camp that the Second Amendment, as originally written, says: 'The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' If you need proof, I can show you my t-shirts. But read The Constitution today and you'll see that some asshole has added 'A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state...' to the front of it. Every American with the basic intelligence to know where to find Fox News on the cable remote knows that there is nothing more anti-American than 'regulation.'" ...

"The major media outlets are reporting today the Arizona fugitives are suspected to have left Montana and are now in the state of Arkansas."

"If they have left the Yellowstone area, they made an intelligent move on their part. Visitors in Yellowstone have been able to follow state firearms laws while there, therefore able to open carry or conceal carry according to Montana and Wyoming laws. Arkansas laws are strongly against the carry of handguns for self-defense."

"This means a Chinese tourist traveling through Yellowstone had better and easier means of defending themselves against these violent fugitives than the people of Arkansas do tonight." ...

"But just what is it? We can only speculate, but a certain picture is beginning to emerge that may give us some insight."

"The NRA is still 'toying' with the idea of endorsing Harry Reid. The toying is almost a foregone conclusion, and it has the membership very upset."

"Lets explore some possible reasons for this. Say Reid is re-elected. Well, we do have a rabid liberal back in office with a very good personal voting record on 2A issues. He can vote for pro 2A issues knowing full well that they will probably be defeated. He maintains his good NRA voting record, but has helped to defeat the bill with his support for many Anti 2A liberals. In reality, this is exactly what the NRA wants. ..." ...

... "Dean ... was the only Tea Partyish candidate who prevailed in the CT primary. Her views are, well, on the idiosyncratic side. A native of 'Live Free or Die' New Hampshire in the days when it was as rock-ribbed as they come, she thinks the Second Amendment is the most important item in the Bill of Rights, supports the right of anyone to own any firearm, and stirred up some controversy by advocating gun instruction in the public schools. She also opposes the death penalty, wants to open a discussion about decriminalizing drugs, and says she'll defend Connecticut's same-sex marriage law (though she doesn't like it). Ditto for abortion. Color her pretty darn libertarian." ...

"This election season's unsettled political atmosphere has upended a lot of standard assumptions."

"Take upstart Republican Dan Dubrule of Ashburnham, who is running against veteran Democratic state Senator Steve Brewer of Barre."

"... Dubrule is undertaking a somewhat quixotic quest in trying to unseat the popular Brewer."

"In his campaign, Dubrule, while a pretty hardcore, tea party-style conservative, is making it a point to avoid the ubiquitous sportsmen's clubs that dot the sprawling, largely rural Senate district and with whom Brewer has forged a close alliance ..."

"'It's in so many ways a year that people were anti-incumbent,' Smith said late Tuesday evening celebrating his victory over Bruning."

High profile incidents ... spurred coverage of the issue from national media outlets ... Outside the law enforcement community, a consensus seems to be emerging that it’s bad policy to arrest people who photograph or record police officers on the job ..."

"But so far, there’s been little activity in state legislatures to prevent these arrests. That’s likely because any policy that makes recording cops an explicitly legal endeavor is likely to encounter strong opposition from law enforcement organizations. "Please tell me how the 'recent relaxation of gun laws' has contributed to the recent melees when most of these punks, by law, are too young to possess handguns in the first place."

"Conceal-and-carry hasn’t induced a flurry of violence, as he says in his column. However, there is a growing gang problem in Columbia."

"Waters' proposal smacks of such elitism the likes of which I thought could never conceivably be uttered in Columbia."

FULL TEXT BELOW:

What part of the Second Amendment does the Jackson County Board not understand? District Attorney Gerald Fox has stated that he will prosecute only criminals with weapons. He will not prosecute honest citizens exercising their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

The county board has decided they will try to find a way to prosecute the honest citizens of Jackson County. They intend to use the county attorney to infringe on your constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

If you do not approve of the Jackson County Board attacking your constitution, call your local county board supervisor. Demand that they stop this action now.

The next Jackson County Board meeting is Monday, Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
