"There have been three murders of women in Baton Rouge, Louisiana near the Louisiana State University campus, which police have concluded is the work of the same predator. DNA evidence has linked the victims, who apparently didn't know each other. Now police are looking at previous unsolved murders of women in Baton Rouge. There have been more than 30 in the past decade."

"What the media almost never report is the fact that everywhere concealed carry is in effect, serious crime has declined dramatically. That's because most of the media is in favor of gun control. The fact that concealed carry has a positive effect in every community where it is used disrupts their theory that gun control is needed to combat crime."

"A security screener spotted the gun inside the man's backpack as it passed through the X-ray machine in Terminal C at 2:45 p.m. and immediately notified her supervisor, said Sgt. Steve Dixon."

ORIGINAL TITLE: "Third Suspect On Run In Nash County Home Invasion Case"
-------
WILSON, N.C. -- "A 73 year old woman who survived tuberculosis and cancer did not live through a home invasion. Two suspects are in custody and authorities are looking for a third person."

"Police say three black men knocked on the door of Kenneth Keen's home, asking for assistance. Authorities say when they went outside, one of the men pulled a gun. Police say Kenneth Keen was able to run back inside, but he was later shot. Authorities say the suspects then forced their way in and one of them shot 73-year-old Mattie Keen."

"Police say Mrs. Keen's son was able to shoot one of the suspects."

"Another suspect, Terro Deshon Ward, 18, of Wilson, was taken into custody. He was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, attempted murder and attempted armed robbery. The third suspect is still on the run."

KABA NOTE: In reading this story, it appears clear that these home invaders were intent on killing their victims. Had not this man been armed, he'd be with his mother in the hereafter.

"As one of America's founding fathers put it, 'Liberty is the sun and rights are its beams.' Rights are the implementation of freedom, yet rights decide only one issue. They decide who gets to decide. Rights do not concern themselves with the merits of the decision, whether it is good or bad, moral or immoral, appropriate or inappropriate. Rights merely tell us, in a situation where two or more individuals have competing claims to something, which of the two people gets to decide."

"The suspects, wielding claw hammers, began beating the men, according to Capt. Dudley Greene of the McDowell County Sheriff's Office."

JUST THINK... The gun prohibitionists would prefer that this news story covered three teenagers murdered with claw hammers in the middle of the night. That is one reason why many sane gunowners consider gun prohibitionists disturbed and in need of psychological guidance.

OH: "Letter threatening police found"

Another title for this "news" report might be: Pro Constitution Means 'Anti Government'
--------
"Police Chief Mark Weldon on Wednesday warned his officers to be extra careful during traffic stops after a threatening letter was found at the memorial for an officer shot to death by an anti-government fanatic."

[Not "Pro Constitution, Pro Liberty Advocate", of course. Not "Anti-Tyranny," either.]

A new excerpt from this so-called "letter" -- which looks like a setup and may very well have been written by a BATF agent -- is reported:

"More will die leaving more grieving spouses and children and they say they are 'just doing their job' like the World War II war criminals."

Why is predicting a highly likely occurrence a bad thing? Political, social and historical trends follow set patterns. One such pattern is that freedom-minded people will only take so much from an oppressive government before they raise the black flag. The fact that the anti-rights crowd invests a great deal of energy avoiding facts and likelihoods when it comes to the police state buildup is not a good reason for liberty advocates follow them over that cliff of ignorance and pretense that everything is okay when it isn't.

To UPI's credit, they didn't report on the alleged but apparently ultra flimsy "link" to a militia the Ohio press has clamored to "cover".

May both of the fallen rest in peace. And may the anti-militia forces in Ohio either produce some real evidence of a militia link, or simply crawl back under their rocks.

"(3) Gun control is not necessarily a winner, even in a Democratic primary. Dingell has long opposed some forms of gun control, and very effectively too. His amendment helped frustrate gun-control organization efforts after the Columbine massacre, and he used to serve on the board of the National Rifle Association. It was Dingell who first referred to ATF enforcement agents as 'jack-booted thugs.' "

"Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey wants the City Council to remove from its agenda a proposal that would define who can and who cannot obtain handgun permits."

"Paul Landow, Fahey's chief of staff, said Wednesday that the proposed ordinance requires further study. As written, Landow said, the proposal would allow 'people with a violent past' to acquire handgun permits."

"The issue of who should be allowed handgun permits has frustrated city government since late winter. Police Chief Don Carey intended at that time to put into an ordinance the policy the Police Department was using."

"That policy called for denial of handgun permits to prostitutes, repeat drunken drivers, those guilty of disorderly conduct, people convicted of destruction of property and others."

"Controversy surrounding two pro-hunting signs here has added fuel to a debate about whether the town should pass an ordinance prohibiting hunting in the Town Farm Forest. Two signs along the Kittery traffic circle - bearing the slogans 'Animals Taste Good' and 'Target Practice' - urge voters to defeat a proposal to restrict people from carrying weapons in the 72-acre forest. The vote is Saturday."

"Justice Department officials in Washington called him a significant terrorism figure and President Bush weighed in to agree."

"But two months later, U.S. law enforcement officials close to the case say Jose Padilla is probably a 'small fish' with no ties to al-Qaida cell members in the United States."

"There are no plans to bring Padilla before a military tribunal and U.S. officials have argued he can be held until the government declares an end to the war on terrorism."

"Common Law is a real thing. It is a real system of laws derived from centuries of work, study and sacrifice of millions of people. It is not trivial and inconsequential as some would have you think. It is the Common Law that is most represented within Our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Our Bill of Rights. These documents were designed to limit and eliminate the vicious Equity, Maritime or Admiralty Law which was what we revolted against as Our Revolution against the totalitarianism of England."
