"Part of my job is to make sure I have a sense of what you like when it comes to all things handgunning. Historically, since I’m basically one of you and enjoy virtually all things about handguns and related goodies, I’ve listened to my own heart. If I like it, chances are good most of you would like it too. But to make sure I’m not living in a closet, I also take reader calls and letters, attend trade shows, shoot at public ranges when I can, visit gun stores in my travels and otherwise try to keep my eyes open. What I’ve learned is we handgunners are pretty much alike — only different." ... |

"Gun control should mean hitting your target, but with the recent shootings in Colorado, Wisconsin, and now Texas, radical leftists are up to their old tricks again calling for the complete banning of guns. While some use are attempting to use the Health Care argument, others, like the Huffington Post's Sanjay Sanghoee has repeatedly demonstrated his ignorance for the U.S. Constitution, the Second Amendment, and guns in general. This time he is again calling for the complete denial of rights under the Second Amendment by making some radical, and most likely unconstitutional suggestions." ... |

"Gun guru Rob Pincus has blessed TTAG with his take on open carry. Mr. Pincus argues convincingly that open carry is a mistake—on the tactical level. He’s shown us that the difference in presentation time—bringing a gun to bear on a bad guy—between open and concealed carry is relatively unimportant. I could quibble with his assessment. Most people who carry a gun suck at deploying (and aiming and shooting) a firearm; there’s a huge difference between the two carry systems for the average armed self-defender. But why bother arguing the point? If you home carry in any way, shape or form, you’re WAY ahead of the game. But Pincus and others fail to highlight an another mission critical aspect to open carry . . ." ... |

Familiarity breeds contempt? Could be. I’ve been asking about the P938 pistol for months. And then it happened. "Everyone and their brother makes an AR-15 these days. It is without a doubt the most popular design in the United States, and for good reason — it’s like Legos for grown ups. More and more 'traditional' gun companies are throwing their hats in the ring, producing budget priced AR-15 copies for the civilian market. And the latest of those is Mossberg with their 'Mossberg Modern Rifle.' But is there anything new and different that they bring to the table?" ... |

"All done? Great. Let’s talk about what was in it. You’ve got a pile of wire brushes, right? One for just about every caliber out there it seems. You’ve got a cleaning rod that can be configured at various lengths. Probably some cotton cleaning thingies as well as a loop so you can push cleaning patches through the barrel. You’ve also got a little bottle of cleaner. Not bad, reader, not bad. Here’s my big question: how many of those brushes and such are you actually going to use? Look at me, for example. Up until recently I only had 3 pistols and they were all 9mm. Why would I need all these extra doohickeys when I was only going to use one brush?" ... |

The one thing I knew for sure was that the giant hollow cavity in the tip of my self defense rounds looked pretty intimidating, even for a .380 Auto."

That was going to be my opening sentence when this column was to be focused on the Aurora, Colorado, movie-theater massacre: twelve people murdered and fifty-eight wounded ... "As a responsible gun owner, I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. If an intruder comes into my home, you better believe I will defend my wife and son by any means necessary, including using Florida's 'stand your ground' law. But we can't let the Republican Party and the NRA keep winning gun control battles in the wake of tragedies like the Aurora killings and Sikh temple massacre. "Operation Fast and Furious is one of the worst law-enforcement scandals in American history.
