"Thanks to a remark by Robert Cornwell, executive director of the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, it is now clear that the gloom-and-doom predictions about licensed concealed carry in Ohio were all lies ..."
"Cornwell was quoted by the Associated Press noting, 'Those with the concealed carry licenses have been good, law-abiding citizens. The worst-case scenarios that were put out there about the gunfight at the OK Corral didn't come to fruition.'"
"'That's the way it always is,' said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. 'The wild-eyed forecasts of blood in the streets never come true. Of course, anti-gunners who traditionally fight such laws know this, which means that they aren't simply wrong in their predictions, they are liars.'" ... |

"Americans today regard the Bill of Rights as an almost sacrosanct part of the Constitution and of American life. Journalists cite the First Amendment's protection of freedom of the press; the National Rifle Association praises the Second Amendment's wording regarding the right of the people to bear arms; attorneys use the Fourth Amendment (no search and seizure without probable cause) ... among others. In short, present-day society almost takes for granted these rights and protections, and indeed, the Constitution itself."

"It's time for Congress to do the right thing and take action on the right to carry for those who have concealed carry licenses. Last year, Congress passed a law, and it was signed by President Bush, to allow police officer and retired police officers to carry all over the United States. Now they need to do this for holders of concealed carry permits. Right now, if you are issued a license to drive a car in one state, it is good in another state. The concealed carry permit should be the same."

"Two really devilish guys materialized in Toccoa, Ga., last month to harangue 600 true believers on the gospel of a thoroughly theocratic America. Along with lesser lights of the religious far right who spoke at American Vision's 'Worldview Super Conference 2006,' Herb Titus and Gary North called for nothing short of the overthrow of the United States of America." ...
"A Harvard-bred lawyer ... Titus told the Toccoa gathering that the Second Amendment envisions the assassination of 'tyrants;' that's why we have guns. Tyranny, of course, is subjective to these folks. Their imposition of a theocratic state would not, by their standards, be tyranny. Public schools, on the other hand, to them are tyrannical." ... |

"The past week has seen a nationwide flurry of interest in 'Castle Doctrine' or 'Stand your Ground' or 'Victim Bill of Rights' legislation. No matter the name, it does the same three things:"

"If you are outside your home, but are there legally, you do not need to retreat before deadly force."
"If forced to use deadly force, you can’t be prosecuted or sued for the actions you took to defend your life."
