"The Texas school district in Harrold is on the right track. With law enforcement officers potentially thirty minutes away, the school district has recognized that armed teachers just might be the best defense against an attack." ...

"As I have written in the past, just one gun may be all that is needed to end a threat. History has shown us the absence of guns has not stopped an attack once it begins."

"Now if we could only get the officials of Harrold, Texas to discuss their decision with the mayor of Atlanta, Shirley Franklin, who is absolutely certain that the best way to protect me is to disarm me, a logic which I do not grasp." ...

"I know we all like our toys, no doubt about it. After all having the biggest most expensive firearm on the range can be sort of a status symbol. Leading to being looked up to by the other shooters, giving way to pride and boasting, and a feelings of self worth, or something like that. We want the best guns available but very few of us survivalist types have unlimited funds. Not everyone can afford to put down a large sum of cash for a survival arsenal. But being poor or cheap does not mean you must be held to a disadvantage."

"Let's say I can tell you about a basic three gun battery that will have you equipped to handle most any survival situation. ..." ...

"For most hunters, the act of killing takes place when they pull the trigger. But across the United States, some ammunition keeps killing long after it leaves the gun barrel."

"The victims are not the targeted animals but instead, critically endangered animals who—instead of soaring in the skies—are hovering on the brink of extinction." ...

"The Humane Society of the United States called for a nationwide ban on lead ammunition in June of 2008, the same time The Wildlife Society completed a technical review entitled Sources and Implications of Lead Ammunition and Fishing Tackle on Natural Resources. " ...

Post Heller Gun Rights Limits

FULL TEXT BELOW:

Whatever one thinks of illegal immigration, I see no Constitutional authority of the feds to limit their gun rights. And I see citizens rights as suspect in general – individuals have natural rights, and governments shouldn't abrogate them. (As for "civil rights" like voting and equal assess to state "services," I do not tend toward affording them to everyone.)

I am thus disheartened by the recent federal decision that illegals have no right to bear arms, implying the feds have a right to control guns in this area, despite no such enumerated power. It is just another decision that further upholds the problematic conflation of civil and natural rights, and further tramples on the original limits on federal power.

"In this week's article I would note that for all the concerns about Heller v. District of Columbia affecting anything other than over the top firearms controls or 'gun bans' we are now seeing actual post Heller federal decisions and the results show what Dr. Cavala and I knew and others figured it out: Justice Scalia stuck it to the loony tunes on both sides. Professor Volokh at www.volokh.com has been posting several post Heller lower court decisions and we have a Neo-Con fight over the efficacy of Heller. In particular, Gene Volokh referenced United States Court of Appeal for the Eighth Circuit in a to be published opinion in United States v. Fincher upheld the National Firearms Act against a Heller challenge as to Fincher’s possession of a sawed-off shotgun. ..." ...

"Walt Disney World decided today to narrow its employee gun ban to the actual Disney World property only -- and with that move the theme park giant got the blessing of Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum for the controversial policy."

"Disney had riled the National Rifle Association, gun advocates and many Florida lawmakers earlier this summer when it declared that it had a special exemption within a new state law, and could therefore tell employees with concealed weapons permits that they could not bring guns to work locked in their cars.
