"Gun rights activists who joke about the existence of a 'gun control playbook' were stunned recently when they discovered there actually is a strategy guide about waging a political gun control effort, and advice from that pamphlet is being used by backers of a gun control initiative now gathering signatures in Washington State."

"The 70-plus page guide, produced last year and apparently posted on-line by Temple Beth-El though a link no longer appears on the TBE website, is titled “Preventing Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging.” It offers advice on everything from using effective rhetoric to dividing National Rifle Association members from NRA leadership." ...

VPC continues to demonize free enterprise along with concealed carry

"The Violence Policy Center has long been a vocal opponent of defensive handgun carry, unafraid of using even the most bizarrely convoluted of arguments against concealed carry. The VPC is also, as previously noted, probably the anti-gun group most invested in the claim that 'the gun lobby' (which is in turn incorrectly treated as a synonym for the NRA) exists primarily (if not exclusively) to maximize the profits of the gun industry. ..."

"And now they've found a way to combine their two weird passions, in 'Cash and Carry: How Concealed Carry Laws Drive Gun Industry Profits.' The entire 'study' is predicated on the notion that gun industry profits are the chief motivating factor behind 'shall issue' concealed carry laws:" ...

"When your firearm runs empty you need to reload it as efficiently as possible. On the range this is easy. During a confrontation you have to reload and stay plugged into the fight – moving, communicating, using cover, maintaining awareness, assessing and making decisions. Now, if you haven’t truly learned how to reload efficiently one of two things are going to happen. Either you’re not going to be able to reload, or you’ll stop doing everything else to reload . . ." ...

Gun Review: Kel-Tec PMR-30

"Although it’s been on the market for a couple of years now, I’ve gotten quite a few 'do a PMR-30 review' requests recently. So…a PMR-30 review it is. Despite a low MSRP, Kel-Tec’s PMR-30 remains both elusive and expensive due to production volume that has never come close to keeping up with demand. And who wouldn’t want an extremely lightweight, fun-to-shoot pistol with a 30-round capacity? Especially one that shoots an entertaining round like .22 Magnum and spits fire like a dyspeptic dragon? . . ." ...

"The Volquartsen has landed! I had the rifle shipped to a local tactical supply, and it didnʼt even make it out of the shop before the guys who work there and I tore into it like it was Christmas morning. Volquartsen sent the rifle cradled in a light but substantial black shipping case complete with chrome latches. Not that anyone dwelled on that detail for very long. Popping the case open, it was immediately obvious that the photos on their web site just don’t do it justice . . ." ...

"I sold off another semi auto for a revolver I could use for a range gun. Got lots of .38 spl’s and .357 ammo stashed away. I have a nice Sig P226 for the range and now I am the proud owner of a Ruger 5″ GP100 .357 magnum. You will not find this listed on Ruger’s website as it is a dealer exclusive. I was floundering between a 4″, my favorite length and a 6″, which is better for a gun for range use, so this was a good compromise." ...

The Stupidest Gun Control Press Conference in the History of the World Ever

"You know all those press conferences where 'victims of gun violence' and their enablers wave the bloody shirt like the checkered flag at the Indy 500? Those are enervating and, I think, a bit sad. But this, this is scary stupid. 'The 60-inch sniper rifle is longer than the folding table on which it sits, a massive 35 pounds of matte black chrome propped up by removable front legs. Next to it lie three 4-inch-long, .50 caliber bullets. Together, they are capable of taking down a small aircraft. And you can buy one right now if you live in New Jersey — even if you’re on the federal terrorist watch list.' A person on the terrorist watch list can buy a small aircraft? After 9/11? Wow! As for crimes committed by shooters with a .50 cal rifle in the Garden State . . ." ...

With so many enemies surrounding it, with a long, bloody history of terrorist infiltration and attack (and civilian counter-attack against same), you’d figure Israelis would accept that number as an acceptable trade-off for the security created by individual armed self-defense. Nope . . ." ...

"The owner of a Memphis, TN business was fed up after having her shop robbed twice at gun point. The owner assumed that the robbers saw her business as an easy target, so she decided to change that."

"She purchased a .38 caliber revolver, and when the crooks came back for a third time, she was ready."

"When two men entered the store and pointed a gun at the owner and her sister, she didn’t think – she reacted. She drew her own gun and fired a shot at the suspects. She missed, and the suspects didn’t wait around to give her a second chance." ...

"New Jersey's law requiring residents show a 'justifiable need' to get a permit to carry a handgun in public was upheld by a federal appeals court."

"Two congressional subcommittees are set to rake government officials over the coals about how the U.S. Park Police, a law enforcement unit of 640 officers, lost track of hundreds of guns and took possession of more than 1,400 other weapons without keeping track of them."

"And a recently retired Park Police officer told MailOnline that higher-ups knew about it and did nothing."

"The number of people seeking permits to buy guns has surged in this town following the December massacre of schoolchildren by a local man, even as the parents of some victims had urged stricter weapons laws nationwide."

"In November, police shot and killed Rickey McFadden, a mentally ill Leonia man who had allegedly robbed a borough pharmacy at knifepoint."

"According to a Bergen County Prosecutor's Office review of the incident, McFadden had charged toward them with the 12-inch blade before they opened fire, striking the 49-year-old 10 times. The review found that the officers had exhausted all non-lethal options during their confrontation, pleading with McFadden to drop the weapon and pepper spraying him twice."

"One option officers did not have that night was to attempt to disable McFadden using a Taser — an often controversial device that has become increasingly common tool for law enforcement."

"This is probably the main reason I moved out of NJ. I just saw no chance for change of the NJ may issue carry laws. To get a ccw permit you must prove a dead and self-defense is not a valid reason. Usually you must first survive an attack on your life and show it likely to happen again. You can also get one if you know the right people. There are about 3,000 or less ccw permits in NJ, if memory serves me right." ...
